We enjoyed ourselves as a group at the hotel. We appreciated the three generous and scrumptious meals a day and the after hours entertainment. The rooms are forever clean with a good supply of fresh water. They can just refresh the state of the bathrooms. This is one place we will go back to anytime.

I have been to this resort many times, I have recommended it to numerous friends and family. My recent visit with friends who have not been there before was terrible. The food was limited, on all inclusive if ordering a drink, you must go to a different bar and if they have all the stock to make you a cocktail, you are lucky. Local beer kilamanjaro taken off the list. There are no waiters anymore??? Even the incusive water comes from a filtered tank into a bottle that was used by someone else. They used to give sealed bottle water. The staff are not happy, the gardens and paths are not swept daily. Sad to see how the service has deteriorated and the vibe has gone. Will certainly be looking for a new resort when I do my next trip and will recommend to nobody. I choose to believe that it's all due to the long term owners having sold the resort that they don't care about customer service. Made the most of it anyway!

We had the opportunity to spend our honeymoon at Uroa Bay Beach Resort in Zanzibar, where we stayed for 9 days. It was a pleasant experience, which we recommend to other tourists who want to explore this wonderful island. The resort restaurant impressed us with the diversity and quality of the food offered. The menu included a wide range of dishes, both local and international, and every meal was a delight. Fresh seafood and exotic desserts were among our favorites. The atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxing and romantic with a gorgeous view of the ocean and the sound of the waves in the background. The staff were friendly and attentive, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. However, it should be noted that while our experience was pleasant, compared to other 4-star hotels on the island, Uroa Bay Beach Resort does not live up to the same level of luxury and authenticity. I have noticed that other 4 star hotels offer more sophisticated and better maintained facilities and services. In conclusion, Uroa Bay Beach Resort is a good option for those who want to enjoy the beauty of Zanzibar and a varied culinary experience. We recommend this place for a relaxing holiday, although for those looking for a true 4 star luxury experience, there are other options on the island that may be more suitable.

The service from reception and restaurant staff was shockingly rude, disgusting and very unhelpful. This sentiment was shared by most people I spoke to during my stay. The hotel is very big so don't expect any quiet peaceful moments. Music is loud and on till late at night and you can hear it in thr furthest rooms. The restaurant had dirty floors with milk spills, the table serviettes were not cleaned and reused for guests. We found mashed food on the serviettes. The restaurant food is cold and not replaced if you don't get some if you not there early. The queues are really long to get food. There was never cups or spoons available. Tables are all set as sharing so you'll never have privacy. The same fish was served daily, meat was tough, watermelon was rotten for the whole week. The waitresses shouted at us to get out as lunch was not ready even though it was time. They kick the cats. We didn't receive a single smile or hello from anyone except the gardeners and security guards. The doctor was great and Ali, the gardener was wonderful. The only other nice person was the guy at the pool who spoke kindly. The hotel tour guide is irritating and constantly pesters you to go on tours, even while your having lunch or a chill with your family. Rooms were sticky, our cups were rinsed in a sink and never washed or replaced. The dirty water was put back into the kettle and we found something very gross in the kettle. The bathroom floors were left wet with mess in the water The emergency light goes on at random times when the power goes off alot. And you wake up to the bright light. The worst machine coffee ever was sometimes available with the coffee machine off or broken most of the time. Getting a lunch box was a disaster. we ordered it the day before as we should as they didn't know about it when we went to fetch it and had to wait an hour. It was inedible and they got the request wrong. They refused to give me an empty box to pack some food on my last day. Wifi is only available at reception but isn't always on so that's a huge struggle with bad connectivity. Don't expect to watch any TV either as it's very unclear and the bed blocks the TV view. I've been to 3 star places in zanzi that were a thousand times better. Won't recommend this place at all.

The lodge is on a lovely beach and has huge potential. However there were lots of frustrations: 1. No internet in the rooms - make sure you buy a SIM at the airport as they triple charge you at reception. 2. It rained our first 3 days in Zanzibar, and just as the sun finally came out... the hotel closed the main pool and started draining. Draining took about 3 days and by the time we were leaving they started the actual maintenance on it. For a resort vacation like this they should prewarn clients that the pool will be closed. There was a second pool in an odd fenced off area that didn't feel welcome. 3. The meals were really poor. Really poor. It was the most common complaint of all the groups that were there. Many joked that it was the first time they spent a week as vegetarians as often the meat dishes would run out within the first 20-30min so if you arrived at your own pace you missed out. It wasn't the cooks fault, I think they tried their best. They just didn't have enough to work with. 4. The creepy owner sat in the corner of the dining room every morning, most lunches, and every dinner. Just watching. He was the second most "complaint" of all the groups there. On one night he was angered by something and ranted at all the staff for a good five minutes. Going on and on. Making all of the hotel guests feel uncomfortable and a couple of his staff with welled up tears in their eyes as they continued their work. Photos attached. Sunrise with Emptied pool. Sunrise taken from beach. Sunset.
