Resort was fun! They had foam parties, large pools, servers and bartenders were great! I enjoyed the a la carte restaurants a lot, the buffet was okay! I did get food poisoning pretty badly for two days - I think from the burger/wing shack. Overall I had a blast though! Resort was beautiful, rooms were large and air conditioning worked well!

I stayed in this hotel back in 2017. I had the time of my life. The pool is amazing and they keep you entertained with fun activities during the day. The buffet is great and we specially enjoyed the restaurants we could book for no extra cost. Food available the whole day and nightlife every night. It was great.

My husband and I stayed at this resort as a last minute booking. The amenities were good but the rooms could have been much better, there are no doors to the shower so water was all over the bathroom floor. I definitely don't consider it a 5 star resort nor is it adults only. The beach was nice but you can not enjoy due to several different people coming up to you trying to sell you things, it became very annoying so we didn't spend much time on the beach at the resort at all. The bartenders at the bar closer to the pool were amazing, the bartenders closer to the lobby not so much. The buffet is pretty good, there are other restaurant options but you have to make a reservation in the mornings for dinner or you will not be able to get in.

Horrible horrible experience. The workers at the front seemed to look down at us and we're extremely dismissive. Either because of our skin color, our accents, who knows. But very poor customer service. The rooms were disgusting. Food at the buffet was gross. Pools and beaches were gorgeous but that was the only positive. I will never return. This resort is definitely a quick/familiar destination spot for locals but NOT for tourists who are used to higher quality vacations. Every other resort in the area was beautiful!! A shame we didn't spend extra dollars to go elsewhere. Unfortunately, I won't be returning to the DR. A lot of anti-black undertones. Shameful.

After flying 10hours from France and not knowing what to expect , I can say that I spent an amazing 10 days vacation in Be Live Collection Adults Only Punta Cana with my mother in every way. The hotel is very clean, cozy,and beautifully designed. The rooms are very spacious, clean and have very comfortable beds. The chefs and the staff are very friendly having always a service with a smile. The food was very fresh and tasty with lots of variety . The beach was beautiful and long , great for walks. In addition the General Manager and Nicolas from the VP desk were very attentive to our needs and made us feel like home. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitively come back even if I have to fly another 10hours ! :) Thank you everybody for making our vacation a very memorable one. Best regards, Aneta G.

I stayed here for a week with friends. Overall, I was very unhappy about the service and room conditions. When we arrived, our swim up room was dirty. The white bedding was stained brown and the floors and bathtub were dirty. From there, we went to use the phone in our room to call the front desk to let them know the state of our room and it turned out our phone did not work. When we went to the front desk to get some help, they said they will have it clean by tomorrow at 2pm... We asked if they expected us to sleep in the dirty bed for the night, to which they seemed frustrated and finally sent someone to clean it within the hour. Throughout the week, we found ourselves wondering why room service wasn't coming every day and had to constantly ask the front desk to send room service because we needed the necessities like towels and water. While our friend was taking a shower in their room, a fist sized rock came falling out of the ceiling and hit the toilet. Luckily it did not hit anyone but it was very shocking. Towards the middle of the week, things definitely got better. There were certain staff members who were amazing (lobby bar staff) but a lot of the time the staff wasn't as kind and didn't seem to want to help. The resort itself was very well kept and clean. And, the beach was absolutely beautiful. When it came to the food at the resort, it was better certain days and times. If you got to the buffet right when it opened for breakfast, lunch, etc, it was better but still not great. Overall, it was not a bad resort, it was just a rough start.

You get what you pay for. Enjoyed our stay. I read the reviews and had second thoughts but everyone gets to have their own experience. Our room in building 7 was nice. Looked like the one in the pictures. Close to a couple of the pools. The food from the buffet wasn't the best (breakfast or dinner). The themed restaurants were not the best but the wait staff made it fun and entertaining atleast at the sushi/hibachi. The reservation system for the restaurants is terrible though. The pools are nice. The main pool has the swim up bar but they allow smoking in it which I didn't enjoy. The bar staff at the various bars were all friendly. Especially they guys at the beach bar. The beach is by far the best part of the resort. The lack of wifi except for in designated areas was an adjustment but actually became a nice way to detox from the phone and all that. They do offer phone service to be purchased in their on site shop $10 for 3 days of service.

Great location. Right in the heart of bavaro and perfect for those who want to explore outside the resort. The staff was AMAZING. We really loved the service and we had such a lovely holiday. If you love wild life dont miss this place. Lots of exotic birds with their babies around the space keeping life colorful and interesting.

These people who write bad reviews don't know what they want! They talk nonsense and none of it makes sense! It's just my eighth day of vacation and I'm having a fantastic time, the food is totally okay and it's constantly changing. Wi-fi works everywhere on the beach in restaurants and in the rooms (we didn't pay anything extra). Don't have second thoughts when it comes to this hotel. I am the first very picky person and this place is fantastic for me! Don't be aggressive with the staff, they are very nice, but they are "slow" because that's their work culture, they don't rush anywhere (go to Tanzania and you'll see what's slow 😂 ). I really had a great time, ate well and was never hungry ✌🏽

The resort is very nice, clean and well-maintained right on the beachfront. Location is too close to the nearby beachfront shops and not very safe if you younger ones, especially at nights trying sell you you drugs etc... eventhough there is security to keep an eye. Service, food and drinks were overall good, however your options are limited for drink type. It is a natural beauty, beaches are really nice, no rocks etc....highly recommend.

Wow. 100% would come back and not just for the beauty of the resort and the stunning beach vibes but mainly because of the staff who were all so welcoming and attentive to making our stay a memorable one! The food was good, lots of options! Love the activities and entertainment that were held throughout the day! Special shout out to Mango, Marlenis, Powell, La Máquina and Oscar who made our stay one to remember forever. They always knew how to put a smile on our faces and ensured we were having a wonderful time at the resort! Thank you to all the staff! We had a great stay in the Sunscape Dominicus la Romana. Recommended! What we liked most: • great beach • beautiful sunsets • delicious restaurants with great variety • chopsticks (Japanese restaurant, especially the waiter Domingo) • good evening program • the animation staff (especially Powell, La Maquina) • really good vibe, a great place to make new friends What we didn't like: • sometimes we had to wait very long at dinner time • the room service sometimes took our bed sheets and didn't give us new towels • the rain came through the balcony door so we had water in our room • our water tap was broken but got fixed during our stay All in all I can recommend the hotel. We had a great holiday. Many things are already pretty good, in some things I see the possibility for improvement.

We went on a quick trip. The beach was beautiful. Our room was in the adult section with a beautiful view. The food at the hotel was pretty bad, drinks were ok on our side. However, the drinks on the regular side were not good… The servers wouldn’t go to the hotels private beach to serve you, you always had to go back to the bar if you needed something. This is such a beautiful place that the hotel could totally improve food and drink quality for a better experience.

We stayed at Sunscape for 12 nights and had a wonderful vacation. We would especially like to thank the tennis instructor, Leonel. His friendly and engaging personality made our tennis sessions and archery practice incredibly enjoyable. Because of him, we made it a point to visit every day. I had the most wonderful time during my stay at this hotel from September 29 to October 10, 2024! From the moment I arrived, the entire staff went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcome and comfortable. Everyone, from the front desk to the housekeeping and restaurant staff, all taff in the beach and pool, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional ❤️The service was exceptional! The hotel itself is beautiful, but it’s the amazing team here that truly makes the experience unforgettable. I look forward to coming back here with my boyfriend or family

Beautiful resort, any issues with the room we’re fixed quickly by guest services. Picky eaters will have some choices like hotdogs and french fries available at almost all times. Beautiful pool, and very kind staff.

This was a great experience! The resort itself was gorgeous, with great restaurants (French and Italian were our favourite), the buffet was great- there was always something we found to eat. Our AC in our room broke one night and we asked Housekeeping to fix it when we were out for the day and they did! So that was lovely. It was a great trip- well worth the price

We had a great stay here at the Barcelo Occidental Caribe. The rooms were clean, we were able to get into all of the restaurant which was a great experience. The games were fun, and Valentin put on a good show for the group, with an appreciated variety of languages for the multi-lingual crowd. Looking forward to visiting again when the cold weather hits next year

The resort is located in a nice location, the beach is clean, water is clear, pool seems well maintained. This is just about the best part of the resort. The food is ok, not much selection but it is flavourful and fresh. The resort itself is definitely older and it shows with how it’s been maintained. The card locks on my room door has rarely worked, the room itself was half cleaned when we checked in. The floor was dirty, no towels in the bathroom, and water leaking from the ceiling in the bathroom. The service here is by far the worst I’ve experienced at any resort in Dominican, I’ve stayed at 3 stars where the service is worth 5 stars and this service reflects what I’d expect at a 2 star resort. It’s almost impossible to get any help from staff and the overall negative morale is evident in every area, from reception to the restaurants, buffets, bars, housekeeping, etc. The facilities are not big enough to accommodate how many rooms they have and how many reservations they have at a time. If you’re looking to be on a nice beach, stay at any of the neighbouring hotels. It’s very disappointing to have such a negative experience.

The room is great, but missing a jacuzzi. The pool needs steps to enter and exit. The service is great. The lunch area should include a food truck or two. The shows and activities by the animation team are enjoyable. Overall, we had a fabulous time here. Julio and Andres are the friendliest guys of the animation team. We had lots of fun.

Recommend 100% All the staff are amazing. Shout out to Andres aka Mister Chocolate and Delvin from the animation team ! The others were also amazing ! Shows and dance party are really fun ! Good vibes all the time ! Good was great, recommend to book for the restaurant (the Asian one is amazing) Great pool and beach is amazing, clean every morning. Room was great, not the best but great. The cleaning lady made sure everything was always okay and was really nice ! Amazing hotel, beautiful lobby. Feel free to walk from the room to the lobby instead of taking the train, you will meet a lot of Iguana and other animals.

This is a great value all-inclusive resort! The grounds are kept meticulously clean, with the exception of the main pool which is a bit grimy alongside some beach chairs, but thats very minor against everything they do really great. For food the buffet is way better than the restaurants- don’t be fooled by the hype it’s just not worth it. But everything is beautiful and even the cheaper rooms have great views of the pools. They have a great segment of the beach, quality rooms and food options especially for the rate. They also offer tons of free entertainment on site. Note on the restaurants - you will need reservations for them, and you will need to make those reservations ASAP when you arrive. The day we arrived the soonest restaurant reservation we could get wasn’t until three days later- and that was during off-season. So make your selections for the week and book it at the desk all at once, asap!!!

While the beach is stunning, the hotel itself is dated. The buffets are extremely boring and found that they re-purpose items from one meal to the next or even the next day. There is absolutely no creativity in their menu offerings. We visit Punta Cana every year and this place we will not be returning to.

I want to start by saying that I’ve stayed at this resort around 8-10 times, and it’s been one of the main reasons I continued to visit and even interned in Punta Cana. However, I recently planned a trip with friends earlier this month and, to be honest, I was quite disappointed. The overall service wasn’t up to par. A handful of the staff were unfriendly and although I always tip, it was almost expected and often times not appreciated. Getting served at the pool was nearly impossible, and we waited almost 45 minutes to an hour to be attended to at the a la carte restaurants, where we had reservations almost every evening. Additionally, I called the front desk 4-5 times for the same request, and each time I was told someone was coming, but no one ever showed up. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be staying at the Occidental anymore, which is unfortunate because it used to be one of my favorite places.

**Review:** I recently stayed at the Occidental Resort in Punta Cana and had a mixed experience. The resort itself is beautiful, with well-maintained grounds and a nice beach. However, there were several issues that detracted from the overall experience. First, communication was a challenge. Many of the staff members spoke little to no English, which made it difficult to get assistance or ask questions. This was frustrating and led to several misunderstandings during our stay. The food was another disappointment. While there were plenty of options, the meals were very repetitive, and the quality was just average. After a few days, it became monotonous, and I found myself wishing for more variety and better-tasting dishes. Lastly, the pool closed quite early at 7:30 PM. This was surprising and inconvenient, especially when we wanted to enjoy a swim after dinner. Overall, while the resort itself was pleasant, the language barrier, lackluster food, and early pool closure left much to be desired. It’s a decent place, but I expected more from a resort in this price range.

We visited in August and stayed for 15 days. We stayed at the Royal level and were quite disappointed with the food a la carte restaurant. The Staff was very moody. We never got a smile or a proper welcoming. We have been members for 20 years and this was by far the worst service ever. The royal level bar was great and so was the staff. Always with a smile and very professional. Thank you Enrique and Willy who have made our stay a memorable one. The beach is spectacular it sure is a paradise. The rooms are well kept and clean and well situated as everything is close by. We have stayed in building 21 on the main floor which we have enjoyed very much. Overall the resort itself is beautiful and very clean. Only down poor was the food and service at the Royal Level (cold atmosphere). If you can offer more choices on your menu and change the staff it will make a difference. Did not feel welcomed at all in this restaurant as a member. We enjoyed eating at the buffet and the other restaurants where we were welcomed and treated nicely.

We loved this resort! We did the presentation, but wasn't in a place to purchase. However, the gentleman that gave our presentation was not pushy at all. We really enjoyed the activities, and the bars/restaurants. Everyone was very accommodating and have the best, funnest personalities! Duracell with the activities gave us the utmost attention and left us with a lifetime of memories. He even took us for a walk down the peer and pointed out many jellyfish, barracuda, and many other sea life, as well as the fascinating plants as we passed them. Thank you Duracell! Also Rosa in activities. And a shout out to Sandy the bartender for making the most delicious drinks. I wish I had time to name everyone. You guys are great! Keep it up!

Had a wonderful honeymoon here. The staff is excellent and friendly. Edwin and Chanel were amazing. They made sure that we had everything that we needed. Large rooms. Great food. Great drinks! Wonderful atmosphere. I would definitely recommend.

Don't visit Aug-Oct as it's a very hot and humid time of year. They tried hard on service consistently, great work. All inclusive, food was shotty and only 2 places to eat on the premises. If you went later hours for breakfast (after 9:30) or dinner (8 PM or later), food was dry and even worse. Not much variety or quality, not the kitchen or staffs fault - they worked hard, whoever ordered the food. It's off season so no special care or attention given. Nightly shows in a small area inside lobby, other resorts had much better shows and there's a pool table in the middle of the room so while performers were working folks were rude continued speaking loudly, walking in front of audience, and playing pool. Pools close at 7 PM. Very bad idea. It's hot during the day so entire premises is empty of visitors till about 4 PM. Not many staying onsite and the staff told us lots, no that's incorrect not the best time of year. They told us pools close at 7 and they threw out several folks due to the liability of drinking yet no railings or safety features around where you could easily slip or trip on their tiles. Didn't make sense. Best time to use pool would be 6-10 PM as the heat is lessen and no sun. Presentation was required - they lied and went well over 90 min. $40k for a 20 year tenure/package and the place is old and not well kept up with caulking missing, toilet paper holders installed crooked, missing tiles of diveted in the room, lights not working, and little things all over off. It's livable but not timeshare worthy. The deal included $500 airline credit for some years but you'd have to keep coming back to this dump and Noval Properties is building brand new next door plus lots of other nicer properties in the DR. As usual the presenter claimed it was their 1st day, none of their slides worked, their calculations were all over the place and didn't add up, they even pulled in 2 managers and another random employee to try and sell us after we said no plenty times. They tried to force day 2 presentation but we had plans already; they came and interrupted our dinner to ask if we'd move plans to get presentation done asap. This is a tactic used to get new visitors asap to commit to buying their garbage timeshare before you realize what you did financially. Don't fall for it it's not a good deal, the property is blah, way better elsewhere in Caribbean or Mexico. If you don't speak Spanish you'll be treated 2nd rate. Noticed for "options" that cost Spanish speakers receive better deals. They call it Sports illustrated with lots of sports memorabilia inside lobby but outside of it the entire premises looks like a run down fake Mediterranean wanna be town. No golf carts to take you around if you wanted or needed for disabled it was noted. It's not a good site for anyone that requires special accommodations noticed as well, good thing we did not need. Reminder: bring cash. If you're going to buy anything outside all inclusive you'll want to use cash and negotiate hard so you don't get ripped off. This is where you'll want to use your Spanish. Outside resort is a toss up on safety so use caution.

I arrived at the Sports Illustrated Resort CapCana in the Dominican Republic on 8/26/24 and the people who work the front desk were not nice at all being American they cater to their own kind, my room wasn’t ready on arrival so we were sent to lunch in the buffet and it was ok. After eating me and my wife needed to use the restroom and when we were done the toilets didn’t flush Absolutely Disgusting. We went back to the front desk and our room still wasn’t ready but people who were arriving after us were given rooms right away. We finally were taken to our room and went inside and while looking around my wife opens up the balcony window and we are overlooking a garbage dump and a building under construction. Not the view I was told about. I called the front desk to complain and they told me that they were all sold out. We left our room and went to the swimming pool and when we returned we needed towels I asked two house keepers and they told me no towels. I called the front desk Twice and they never sent the towels. Finally after an hour wait we received Two towels. The next day our room was changed and the room was nicer but there were numerous light bulbs that didn’t work and we had no Telephone or WiFI service for three days I reported it to the front desk and each day I received a different story but nobody ever came to look at the problem. The second day I came back to the room and there was no power at all in my room so I went to the pool and called the front desk and told them I had no power they told me they would send someone over, well nobody ever showed up at all Unbelievable How We Were Treated. After an hour wait I went back to the pool and one of the guests told me what to do for the power and I did. The 4th day we were there someone showed up at my door at 10:00PM to check the phone we were already in bed. There are No activities at all at this resort they had a DJ one night Wow real Exciting. There are No Sports activities anywhere and no Beach Access you have to drive 20 Minutes to get to the Beach and pay $25.00 to eat or drink when this is supposed to be an all inclusive resort. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE AVOIDED.

The staff were so friendly and helpful! They took such great care of us and made sure that we had an amazing vacation. There are no elevators, so make sure your room accommodation is appropriate for you and your physical needs. The various themed restaurants were decent, but we preferred the buffet and ate most of our meals there. The buffet options changed fairly regularly and we didn't ever get tired of what was available. The night time singers and karaoke were fun! The beach was beautiful! I would definutely recommend this resort!

I read reviews 1 night before my trip and had so much anxiety about the negative reviews. Minus a bit of updating of some of the rooms and a need for more vegan options, this place is a great overall value. We paid for the preferred package and really enjoyed our stay. Staff goes above and beyond and are delightful to work with. Weather was perfect late November. They have amazing entertainment for the family too.

Straight up, NOT a 4- star. This resort is being torn down soon, an maintenance seems low priority. The first room we were assigned, was a disgrace. Felt like a slap in the face for the money we paid. Very disrespectful. After one night I had to demand a different room. I would not have reserved the resort knowing it was on the way to being flattened. The employees always had a smile. I would recommend going to a different resort, and not be disappointed. And I like it better, when all-inclusive means “ no expectations to tip”. Unfortunately, that was the only way to get drinks, was to tip. Room service was 0/4 in getting the order correct. I’ve been to 4-5 other all- inclusive resorts, and this is easily the most disappointing. Too far to travel to find too many issues.

We were a family of ten and this resort met our needs perfectly . I as the Grandmother, my two sons and their families were happy with the food, service, cleanliness and beautiful grounds. Staff was great. It is too bad the ocean is plagued with the seaweed problem but the hotel is doing its best to keep it clean. The bathrooms need updating. Overall a wonderful resort for our family.

The staff here was so helpful and friendly. We had the best time! We would go back again and again if we could. The food was excellent and you did not need to make reservations which we found to be a huge bonus! Eat what you want when you want. Burgers on the beach were fantastic. Ambiorix at the pool was our favorite, but honestly they were all great.
