I am extremely disappointed with the management at the reception desk of the Golden Nugget Hotel in Las Vegas. After waiting a long time in line for check-in, we showed proof of our online payment and reservation for a double room. However, the receptionist informed us that the reserved room was no longer available and offered a larger room, but with an additional charge of around $50. On top of that, they required us to pay again and also leave a deposit. In the end, I paid twice online and on-site and since November, I have not received my deposit back or a refund for the online payment. Even after multiple calls, they have been unresponsive and unwilling to assist. It’s truly unacceptable.
The experience didn’t improve from there. It was very difficult to find the elevator to get to our room, as the receptionist didn’t give us clear instructions after payment. We ended up wandering for 30 minutes trying to find the room because no staff were available to help, and going back to the reception was impossible due to another long line. When we finally found the room, the key card didn’t work to open the door. Luckily, there was a phone on the floor, and we called for help. It took 20 minutes for a technician to arrive and let us in.
Once inside the room, we discovered several issues. The bathroom light bulb was out, the room was freezing cold, and the heater was noisy, ineffective, and couldn’t be adjusted. The room itself was poorly maintained, dusty, and far from soundproof outside noise was very noticeable, as if we were outdoors. On top of that, the TV didn’t work.
This stay was incredibly disappointing, especially considering that we traveled from far away. My partner came all the way from Paris and was shocked by the poor standards of the hotel. Despite its good location, the experience was a complete disaster, and we will never return. To this day, we have not received a refund for the deposit or the duplicate payment.

The hotel casino was fantastic overall! The dealers in the poker room were outstanding—skilled, engaging, and genuinely entertaining, which added so much to the experience.
However, the biggest downside was the service in the restaurants and bars. Many of the employees seemed irritated by customers, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere. It often took 10 to 15 minutes just to get a drink after sitting down at a restaurant, which was frustrating. Additionally, drink service for slot players was very inconsistent and rare.
On the positive side, the staff serving the poker room were exceptional and attentive, making that part of the visit much more enjoyable. While the gaming experience was great, the poor service in other areas left a disappointing impression.

We stayed at this hotel because it has great ratings; however the staff was not helpful and seemed to just want to pass the buck. I rated the service 3 stars because the housekeeping was great. Fast service and attentive to needs. The room left much to be desired due to leak in the ceiling light above bathtub. When I was expecting a package to come in from the mail, I had to enquire several times and spoke to 5 different departments before I could get my package. I would like to thank one of the front desk managers Benny for finally helping me receive my package.

I’ve stayed at the Golden Nugget many times. I love the location right in the heart of downtown. The rooms are very spacious and it has a nice casino, but I was very disappointed with some deferred maintenance this last trip. There was a lot of chipped paint in the bathtub. Looked like a super eight.

I traveled to Las Vegas for a special event so I didn't spend much time in the hotel or casino. I ate at the Chick fil A for one dinner, the rest of the time I was with friends in Las Vegas.
The room was nice and it was a lot bigger than I expected.
The tub was very slow to drain, I ended in ankle-deep water after my shower. To be fair to the hotel, I did not report this during my stay and I forgot to tell the front desk when I checked out.
If you want to experience a lot of casinos minimal walking, this is a great spot. The casino is near the Freemont Street experience, where you will find a lot of smaller casinos with lots of dining options (check out the Hugo's Cellar for an excellent dining experience and really great food). It's easy to get to this casino from the freeway and self-parking is free for guests.
Be sure to ask how to activate the free parking when checking in. I didn't know how this worked and I ended up giving my credit card to a company when it was not necessary. The front desk helped me with this and I was able to take advantage of the free parking.
The next time I travel to Las Vegas I will consider staying at the Golden Nugget again. I may even visit the casino and fitness center.
