Not the luxury resort we were expecting. From the onset the reception staff was not accommodating. They ranged from pleasant but not helpful to a bit surly. The service staff on the other hand was very pleasant. Two of the pools were attractive but because of their odd shapes were not meant for swimming, just dipping. The third was on a rooftop and small, but cozy. While the food was included, it was only available during certain hours. If you missed the breakfast or lunch hour the only option was a grab and go cellophane wrapped sandwich or granola. Rooms and internal hallways were stark and on the industrial side but the bed was comfortable and the shower large and accommodating. Apparently they have a shortage of towels and we could never get the additional wash cloths we requested. Because of its location the waters here are choppy, not the calm Caribbean Sea we looked forward to. Also, the resort is located in a very crowded somewhat run down part of Barbados. In the past we stayed in the area north of Bridgetown and that is where we would go in the future.

My boyfriend and I spent 5 nights here and it was very relaxing and enjoyable. We are on vacation to really unwind and relax. This place is perfect for this kind of vacation. There are some small things to do everyday but overall lounging by the pool and the beach was our main activity. There is live music most nights until 10pm which we enjoyed with dinner. The resort does not seem overcrowded even though it’s on the smaller side, as far as an all inclusive resorts go. The food absolutely blew us away. Oro, the fine dining restaurant was very delicious and the staff really seemed to take pride in their work. Even the buffets were great! For an all inclusive we were suprised at the diversity of the dining experiences and the quality of the food. Our bartender Davitri really stood out. He made us specialized cocktails at the bar a few nights and again seemed to love his craft. This personable experience really heightened our stay. The room was ocean front with gorgeous views. The only remark I will make is some of the staff that served us on the beach/pool seemed to be bothered that we were ordering drinks. A little strange but it did not damper our experience in Barbados. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and we will be coming back!

Like many of the reviews here, our experience at O2 was mixed. Some elements of our stay were exceptional but others needed improvement. Our visit began with the free shuttle from the airport not showing up. When I called the resort they said that, even though I told them our flight information and arrival time in advance, it was our fault that we did not explicitly ask them to arrange a shuttle for our arrival. The taxi cost us $35USD and there was no offer to reimburse us. We were booked into a ground level room looking out to the noisy pool bar with little privacy. The room smelled damp and mildewy like a basement. After complaining, this was rectified and we were moved to a much better room up on the third floor. The hectic ride from the airport and room ordeal started our 8-day vacation on a low note. Things got better from there forward. The layout of the rooms have the bedrooms set far in the back, away from windows. Therefore, bedrooms don't get very much natural light and there is no way to open a window for fresh air. Most of the rooms face out to picturesque south ocean views with great sunsets (late January). The food and service in the restaurants was excellent. Generally, we had no difficulty booking reservations that worked with our schedule. Favourites included the Lamb Chops, soups, and Lobster Tail. If meals are important to you you will not be disappointed with this resort. Housekeeping was okay but there were several details that were disappointing; two days we didn't receive fresh towels; restocking of the fridge was inconsistent; and an empty wine bottle sat in the hallway outside our room for five days before someone noticed it and removed it. The footprint of the resort is small, so the layout of the pools, lounges and restaurants is a bit crowded and cramped. The resort is located in a busy hotel district called St Lawrence Gap. There isn’t much to see outside the resort but it did feel safe for morning runs and short afternoon walks. It seemed like the resort was mainly catering to UK guests. 90 percent were older couples and there were very few families with young children. Generally, the mood was quiet and conservative with very little party liveliness. One night we decided to actually dance to the live music while the rest of the guests just stared at us. Afterwards, the lead singer actually approached us to tell us how much she appreciated us being on the dance floor during her performance which seemed to support how unusual dancing is at this resort. The mood of the resort is also set by a general apathetic attitude amongst the majority of the staff (with exceptions!). They didn’t seem to enjoy their work and appeared stressed and tired. For example, I learned to avoid ordering drinks from the beach servers because they always appeared put out whenever I asked for anything. It was safer and less stressful to just walk over to the bar myself and fetch my own drinks. Overall, the resort is generally clean, well maintained and has excellent restaurants. However, more attention needs to be paid to maintenance details, housekeeping and the attitudes of staff.
