The first room offered was very dirty - I mean, the dirtiest room I've EVER stayed in my many, many decades of local and international traveling. The 2nd one was a normal room - still run down. Why did they give us such a dirty room was beyond me. Then the electricity went off - we were on the 11th floor for good 1 day?? Why the name is in Chinese? This must be some kind of effort to restrict the reviewers like myself. The name of this hotel was Manhattan @ Times Square Hotel. Don't go there.

I’ll be honest, I did have low expectations, very low expectations, about staying here after reading the reviews on Google, but I really had a great stay here. I stayed over the Thanksgiving break among a group of 5 people so I did expect to queue for a long time checking in, especially after reading the reviews. There were loads, and I mean loads of seats at the reception area for people to wait at. There were some really welcoming, friendly and chatty porters who offered to look after our bags while we waited and I did not feel they were pushy or persistent for a tip from us. The queue did move really quickly, I didn’t think we were waiting for long. Raquel at reception was fabulous. She advised us that the card/key to the room is very sensitive and should not be stored next to a phone or credit card because this can deactivate it but none of us had any problems with our keys. I will be honest, we were all on the 6th floor and the decor does feel a little outdated. I know there are refurbishments taking place and none of us were disturbed by any of the work. Again, the rooms were outdated, but were fine. Each of the rooms we were clean, had a working TV, a coffee machine, plenty of lavatory paper etc. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. I did find it unusual that there wasn’t a fridge because most hotel rooms did have a mini-fridge. Although I think one could have been ordered from reception if we asked but none of us needed one. Noise-wise, it wasn’t as loud as I thought it would be. The windows in our rooms did open which was great for letting fresh air in. Realistically, it is in Manhattan and about a 1-minute walk from Times Square so you are going to hear outside noise. Although we did get used to it and after a long day of walking and exploring, we were all so tired that we slept through most of the night comfortably. There is an ice-machine and water cooler on each floor, but the one on the 6th floor didn’t work so I went to the 8th floor which had one working perfectly, not too far from the elevator. I forgot to report this to the reception while I was there so I can’t really fault the hotel for the ice-machine and water cooler not working on the 6th floor if they didn’t know about it. The housekeeping team came to our rooms every day and they were all so lovely. On one day when we were all having a lie-in, the housekeeping team knocked on the door, waited for a response and offered to come back. I said no because we would be resting for while and yet they still offered us fresh towels, more lavatory paper, to empty the bins etc. They were all so friendly and lovely, they couldn’t do enough for us. The ‘Grab and Go’ breakfast is still a nice option and you do have the option to buy additional coffee, drinks and snacks from there. I think it’s open to 12.30pm every day which I think is a great service, especially if you’re not a morning person and don’t want to rush yourself down before a certain time. Even during check-out, the porters weren’t very persistent for tips and stored our luggage away from the reception. They even asked how we were getting to the airport and did we need help calling a taxi. So truthfully, I can’t really complain too much. It was a great budget-friendly option with a great location. If it’s your first visit to New York and you need a convenient location, I highly recommend staying here and I would gladly stay here again.

We stayed in premium rooms, they were decorated nicely, but there was some slight little things that were not great. However, our room was spotlessly tidy Ashley was fantastic. Nothing too much trouble, the bed was so comfortable too. The location is perfect. Easy access to subway, times square, radio city, central park all within 10 mins. Reception/ Conceige were lovely and friendly and breakfast although a little disappointing (just a drink, fruit and pastry) the service was always fast, warm and friendly. Please note. Traffic noise is loud, every hour of the day. Wear earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

The only good thing about this place is the location. I paid almost $600 a night. The room was dirty. Stains on ceiling. Stains on the floor. Stains on the bedsheets. The pillows were so flimsy and gross, I ended up using the pillows from the other bed (got two beds) and it still wasn’t enough. The bed felt like a water bed but it wasn’t. It was squishy in some spots and firm in others. It looked like the rooms haven’t been updated since the 90s and cleaned since the early 2000s. For almost $600 a night I expect AT LEAST clean sheets. I slept on the comforter in My clothes. Disgusting. The shower also would only do either arctic tundra cold or pits of hell hot. There was so happy medium. Also there was mold in the grout in the shower. I always bring My own soap, but I usually wash My hands when I first get in with whatever hotels body wash soap. It was empty. Also I could feel water trapped under the tub. Disgusting disgusting disgusting. It felt like I was at a motel 6. Gross.

There were mistakes in my reservation. I had to change my original, and the updated one said it was what I was after, but when I checked in, it was wrong. I contacted the front desk, and they corrected (or explained) _EVERYTHING_. All of the staff are extremely polite, friendly, and helpful. Definite thanks to Liya for fixing every possible issue with my stay. Also want to send a shout-out to Eliot from bell services. He helped move me from one room to the other, and then at checkout. He found me a car service to get to the airport and was very pro-active in his assisstance. The rooms (I was in) were clean, brightly lit, and (mostly) comfortable. The chair was a bit tall, but I'm short, so that's a personal issue, not one that is the fault of the hotel. They are installing a restaurant, so the current "grab & go" breakfast should be much better. The location is exceptional, only blocks away from everything I was looking to see and do. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a hotel in or near Times Square.
