Hotel Riu Plaza New York Times Square

I don't normally write reviews but in doing a lot of research to find the right hotel within the endless options in New York, I utilized a lot of reviews between Google and Hotels.com so I wanted to share with others who are also doing the same. From the start, everything was fabulous at Hotel Riu. We got in early so dropped our bags off earlier in the day and got our tickets to retrieve them later after check in time. When we arrived later, Mery checked us in and was so extremely helpful. She was very thorough, detailed, and answered our questions before we could even ask them. She took her time explaining where breakfast was, amenities available, etc. She was extremely polite and mailed a postcard for us (we provided the stamp). I'm not picky, I don't need anything fancy, just a bed and a nice place overall. My adult daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights in October and this was a perfect location for everything near Times Square and Broadway. The Bellmen will even hail a cab for you or suggest private car service for a fee or Uber. For the city, it was extremely quiet. Of course in any hotel you'll hear noise like other guests closing doors but aside from that this was quiet. No concerns with the bed or AC and I like a cool room. As many of the reviews have mentioned yes, the frosted glass in-between the bathroom and bedroom is a little interesting but if you just look away when the person's showering, it's not a big deal. The only con I would have to say is the bathroom light is pretty bright as far as shining thru the frosted glass if someone is still sleeping. A lot of people made comments about the breakfast and how busy it was but it's New York, it'll be busy anywhere you go. It was organized in a fast, New York way when you have droves of people coming in at all times so I think they did a great job. Make sure you put your room key in the elevator before selecting your floor or you'll take a fun little ride to other floors haha I'd stay here again easily! Great customer service!

We stayed with our family and could not have been happier with the experience. The rooms were beautiful and spacious and the beds were comfy. But the absolute best part of the stay was the staff. From the moment we checked in, the front desk (Karina) to the cleaning staff to the bell hops to the breakfast crew, everyone was beyond friendly and amazing. My daughter was there for her birthday and they made her feel on top of the world. It is a warm and welcoming atmosphere and it is truly the staff that makes this place so special. Thank you for the kindness and hospitality and overall positive experience for our family. The staff is the best there is

This was one of the only hotels that would fit our family of five (two adults, three kids) into one room for a reasonable price. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms were very clean. They made the beds every day. The location cannot be beat- it was minutes from Times Square and many Broadway show houses. There are excellent restaurants right outside the door. I would absolutely stay here again with my family. The room was tight, but there was space for luggage under the beds. The beds were very comfy.

This was my first time coming to New York, and this hotel made it so accessible. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will be returning in the future. The bed was so comfy and while I did have a king bed the room was a little on the smaller size, but it was just me. I did have an issue with how to operate the shower, but the front desk and maintenance person were amazing and helped me get things squared away. Loved the proximity to the subway, broadway, and Times Square.

The hotel is only a short distance from Times Square, the rooms are clean and beds are extremely comfortable. We had 4 adult in our room and there was plenty of space. The buffet breakfast was delicious, a variety of choice and had you set up for the day. I would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family visiting. I travelled as part of a sports team and we had no issues.
