My fiancé and I just returned from our stay, and despite our initial nerves after reading reviews, we had an incredible experience. We arrived early in the morning, and the staff kindly stored our luggage and quickly arranged an early check-in. Everyone, from the staff to fellow guests, was exceptionally friendly and courteous. The food was fantastic, with breakfast and lunch buffets offering a variety of options that changed daily, while dinner alternated between buffet and regular menu. There was always something delicious to enjoy. Whether we were relaxing by the beach or in the lobby, the staff frequently checked in to see if we needed anything, and by the end of our stay, some even remembered us, which made us feel truly valued. I highly recommend trying the water sports; we had a blast tubing and laughed more than ever. We can't wait to return to Waves on our next trip to Barbados!

Wife and I vacationed here in July of 2024. We have visited Marriott properties and all-inclusive resorts in several different countries. This was our worst experience to date. The staff was friendly, but the service was beyond slow. We had to ask multiple times to get more water refills at meals. We offered if they would give us a pitcher we would refill ourselves, but they apparently have a policy to not allow that. Then they promised to be more prompt, and we still waiting constantly for refills.
The same happened at the adult-only pool. Servers came by so infrequently, we would order a beverage and it would take a long time for the server to return. Then we would be finished and want another but constantly had to wait. There was no bar open anywhere near the pool for us get out and order something ourselves or we would have happily done so. The servers, seemingly had to cross the street to the beach-side part of the property (which isn't adults-only) to get orders then walk back.
It was frustrating and unenjoyable. The food options were limited and meals were mediocre at best, so we actually cut our trip short and left after a 3 days even though we were supposed to stay for 5 days.
The worst part of the experience was that management showed a deep level of concern as to why we were leaving (which was great) but then made promises to refund our points we used for the days we didn't stay. It was a nice gesture and appreciated as we did not ask for anything. Three months has past, I've checked in periodically but no action has been taken. I continue to get told it is because of inaction at the corporate level and the resort seems to indicate that it is out of their hands now.
It would have been better if they never offered any restitution at all if they couldn't ensure to follow through with that offer. The country of Barbados is beautiful. The people were kind. But I would not recommend staying at this property.

Wave outdid themselves, everything was excellent and even the anniversary surprise in the room. We will definitely be back, the food was nice and all you can drink was my thing. Thank you guys for making our anniversary celebration special.

Flying from London Heathrow. The hotel is around 1 hours taxi ride from Grantley Adam’s Int. Airport and we arrived at the resort at around 8.30pm, we received the warmest of welcomes from the staff on reception. We were shown to our room and after dropping our luggage off we went down to the restaurant, the reception staff had made a reservation for us in advance of checking in which I felt was considerate.
There was plenty of choice for breakfast with cereal, porridge, omelettes and choices of cooked eggs. Soup, salads, pastas and various other dishes for lunch and dinner with a show-cooking station of various world foods on offer.
The staff in the restaurant are absolutely amazing and have a warm and welcoming greeting for everyone. The staff cannot do enough to make sure your stay is trouble-free and enjoyable.
There is a smaller cafe/restaurant opposite the main restaurant where you can get coffee/tea, sandwiches/panini and cakes throughout the day.
The beach is small, however this doesn’t detract from the overall atmosphere, we did hear one woman complaining that the sun loungers were too close to each other, but we didn’t have any problems with this. There are beach ambassadors on hand to get you cocktails and beer and a table where you can help yourself to iced water. They also come around with frozen fruit and will even mist you to cool you down!
There is a water taxi that comes right up onto the beach that can take you to other sister hotels down the coast. Although only one is open currently as the other is closed for refurbishment.
There hotel is split between beach side and Spa side. The Spa side is adults only, whereas the beach side rooms are family rooms.
Spa side the pool area is nice, although there are few sun loungers.
The beach side family pool was closed off during our stay for refurbishment, so I am unable to make any comment about this pool.
On arrival at the hotel we were given 2 complimentary vouchers each for a choice of treatments. If you are going to take advantage of this I recommend booking this early. We chose ‘Good To Go’ back massages and facials for our last day, which left us invigorated.
Whilst we were in Barbados we did go to Kensington Oval to watch the West Indies vs England ODI which is 7 km from the hotel, they organised a shuttle for $50 Bajan / $25 US / £20 GBP.
Also booked a trip to swim with turtles through the hotel, which was an amazing experience for $100 Bajan / $50 US / £40 GBP. Swam with Eagle rays turtles, also Parrot fish, Blue Tangs and other types I don’t know the names of.
Overall this is an amazing hotel. All the staff make this hotel what it is and we found them warm, friendly and welcoming.
Oh, and take an umbrella you may need it for the odd rain shower.

Staff was fantastic very friendly, helpful and professional. It was low keyed and quiet. The beach was small but very nice. The facility was very clean and well maintained. The food was very good. We would definitely come here again
