We spent a week at this hotel in October 2023. Great service, helpful and very nice. We booked a room for 3 adults at the travel agency. After arrival, it turned out that there were 2 beds for adults and only an extra bed for a child. The hotel staff showed great understanding and courtesy by changing this room to an apartment for us, at no extra charge. With this approach, they are a 7-star hotel for us.

Our stay was a very special experience... The surroundings of the hotel was very lush and nice. At early morning, you can hear the birds chirping, and it's very relaxing. The water park is great for families. The meals were very exceptional, and the service was great! There's only one negative thing: The foreigners dress code in the pool and their behaviors were a little disturbing. We will come back to Barcelo Mussanah Resort in winter, so it will also be best if you could heat the pools and the water in the bathroom! Other than that, it was a 5 star experience!!

A Truly Exceptional Stay! I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I must say it was one of the best experiences I've had among all the 5-star hotels I've visited. The service was impeccable, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, especially Mr. Charles and the Omani gentleman who checked us in. Their hospitality and professionalism made us feel right at home and set the tone for a wonderful stay. There was also another Omani gentleman who graciously helped us with our luggage, adding to the seamless service experience. The staff in the restaurant were very approachable and attentive, making dining a delightful experience. The hotel itself is a haven of relaxation and tranquility. It’s a perfect place for families and anyone looking to unwind. The serene atmosphere, coupled with the cool, calm environment, makes it an ideal retreat. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a luxurious and relaxing getaway. I swear I'll be back whenever I get the chance! We recently stayed at Barcelo Mussanah Resort to celebrate our anniversary, and it was an unforgettable experience. The room was beautifully appointed, comfortable, and made us feel instantly relaxed. A special thanks to Ms. Samira, who went above and beyond to ensure our celebration was perfect—her thoughtful touches made all the difference. The only minor glitch during our stay was with the room service, specifically the mixed grill, but the team handled the situation with a prompt and efficient service recovery. which truly impressed us. One suggestion for improvement would be to expand the room service menu to offer more variety, but overall, we were very pleased with our stay. We can’t wait to return!

Our stay here was amazing. Really warm and welcoming staff. The rooms (we had two adjoining) were very clean and luxurious. First time staying at a Kempinski hotel and I would definitely stay at one in the future. We were here for our wedding anniversary and they prepared our room in a very special way with rose petals all over the bed. It was a nice surprise and that level of attention was given our entire stay. It made us feel special and it added to our vacation in Oman. We really appreciated the breakfast buffet staff! We were at table 27 every morning and the staff serving that table were incredibly professional and provided exceptional service for our family. The cleaning staff did a terrific job and always left our room feeling immaculately clean. Thank you to the staff at Kempinski Hotel Muscat!

I like the gym in hotel. Very nice and advanced has everything needed, always clean and not very busy. Also I had a good experience training with coach Ibrahim. He gave me good training paying attention on my needs, was polite and nice. Also giving me advice on the diet and some exercise which will be good for my improvement. Will be happy to continue going to the gym and having different training classes with Ibrahim.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Kempinski. The employees are so incredibly helpful, kind and courteous. I think that they must have made a huge investment in the customer experience training as well as recruiting wonderful people as the levels of service and hospitality were exceptional across the board. We were incredibly grateful for our complimentary upgrade (this doesn't happen so frequently in ME hotels these days), plus flexibility with check in/ out times. The views, the beach location, the proximity to the port for scuba and snorkelling trips were excellent. Breakfast and dinner was excellent and the chefs and waiting staff went the extra mile to give us exactly what we wanted. Also loved the detail of being able to get the exact pillows we wanted. it really feels like they have thought of every detail. Nespresso machine great, and wonderful smelling toiletries (I liked the the fact that these aren't disposable also). I can't speak highly enough for this place. just loved it! Thank you for a wonderful weekend and we WILL be back!

Recently enjoyed a wonderful few days here with my wife and our 3 children (aged 10, 13, 15). From moment of arrival, the staff were amazing. Friendly, attentive, professional, without being overbearing. They really went out of their way to make us all feel welcome. We arrived very early in the morning and were offered a full day early check in for only a nominal charge which was fantastic. The meals were all great. Hotel facilities are excellent. Private beach with optional jet ski and boat rental a nice plus! I’ve marked location as 3 stars only because it’s in the middle of nowhere. There really is nothing there except the hotel itself. That suited us, but if you’re looking for entertainment or activities beyond just the hotel then you might want to look somewhere else. We loved every moment! Thanks to all the staff especially Javed and Miron! Thanks also to our Grand Prix buggy driver Abdul who made great friends with our son!

Great service from all staff members especially from our room Attendant Nagaraj made our stay pleasant and comfortable. We used the Samba restaurant mainly and found it found it catered for our daily need be it breakfast lunch or dinner a great choice of food from different corners of the world. My wife is a vegetarian and some times it can be challenging to find a suitable catering facility but Samba restaurant was excellent for her need great variety on each day .

We recently celebrated a family friend birthday at Shangri-la Muscat, and I have to say, the experience was truly unforgettable, thanks to the amazing staff. During our stay, we were completely surprised with a beautifully decorated birthday cake. It was such a thoughtful and delightful gesture that added a special touch to the celebrant. The cake itself was delicious, and it was clear that a lot of care and making it. The staff’s generosity and attention to detail made us feel incredibly valued and appreciated. At Samba we had our buffet dinner and a lovely surprise that made the celebrant more memorable with another cake and bottle of wine. Aside from the wonderful birthday treat, the service throughout the evening was impeccable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect. Everything considering the Hotel facilities are fantastic! The staff and the service, 10 out of 10. The breakfast was amazing. Just one thing should be better, the restaurant type options! Few restaurants, lack of options like 'À la carte' (just one). Paying 11 Omani Rials per child who eats 3 spoonfuls is more than acceptable.

The professional and Welcoming staff made the hotel one of our favorite family gateway destination. Although it was very crowded, the valet staff were very efficient and made the arrival and check in process smooth. Special thanks to Mr Osama, from front desk for his kindness and professionalism in facilitating guests requests, I extend my thanks to Ms Dan from front desk for the great hospitality and support to fulfill our needs, she truly appreciate valued guests and I wish her all the best. I don’t forget the wonderful concierge team who are always fast and greet us with a big smile. Regarding the hotel facility the pool is clean as usual and the beach with the surrounding are great. The breakfast was well handled and the food was delicious.

We stayed for 3 nights in a Deluxe Room at the Chedi at the end of our 14 day Oman trip and we absolutely loved it! Service is impeccable. They go above and beyond for their guests. You are always greeted with a smile. The room was beautiful. If you need something, the housekeeping team is there to support. The breakfast was extensive (there is something for everyone) and delicious. The hotel itself is stunning. The design, the pools, the private beach and so on. I can't say anything bad about it. Be aware that everything you consume/buy in the hotel will come at a price (if you for example compare it to having diner elsewhere in the city). But quality has a price :) If we would return to Oman, we will definitely stay here once more!

Such a magical hotel. Food and service was exceptional. Staff remembered our orders in case we wanted to order the same thing again as we loved it so much. Nothing is any trouble. Grounds are beautiful too, big and spacious with enough areas where you have ultimate privacy. Highly recommend.

Hands down this place is heaven on earth. The views, the rooms, the pools, and the beach it’s incredible. Not to mention but the service here was 10/10. Incredible place to stay if you are in Muscat. The price you pay is definitely worth it. Food was amazing as well. Spent hours in the pool. Fun fact - the longest pool in the entire middle east. Spent hours and hours in the pool.

The staff were amazing, we were there in the hottest of months and they made sure we were looked after, kept hydrated and have the best time. Pandiyan by the pool was so lovely and looked after us every time we used the pool. The food was delicious, breakfast was 5 star. Honestly can't wait to get back there

My partner and I stayed at The Chedi for 3 days, it was the most wonderful time and somewhere we will forever treasure. All of the staff around the hotel really made it for us. They were fantastic in every way possible, Ahmed at reception was so lovely and remembered where we had been for dinner each day and even remembered us a week later, you are lucky if you get to meet him. Jameel and team at the Chedi Pool bar were attentive, respectful and informative. We are already planning our next stay and can’t wait to see the staff again!

My husband and I had a fantastic experience at the hotel. From the arrival staff to the hospitality team, housekeeping, pool attendants, lifeguards, and restaurant staff, everyone was welcoming, friendly, and extremely attentive. The amenities were superb and exceeded our expectations. The pool area was particularly delightful with an infinity pool Looking out to the Gulf sea. The chef at breakfast was accommodating, catering to our needs even when they weren't on the menu. The private beach was a bonus , it’s quiet and secluded, the beach help were extremely helpful- the hotel also offer a cool box at the beach was an added bonus we didn't expect. While the hotel is a bit far from the city, requiring preparation for taxi fares, there is a shuttle service to the souk and the mall. However, for other destinations, be prepared to pay for taxis. British travellers should note that the exchange rate is currently weak, making expenses higher. It's important to note that there are no prayer facilities on the premises. Muslim guests should plan where to pray their Jumma prayers. However, the addition of a small mosque in the future would make this hotel perfect. Overall, it's a hotel you won't regret staying at. It beautifully showcases its artistic heritage and Omani hospitality, making it a fantastic place to stay.

The location and serene surroundings of this hotel are its main advantages. The beach is beautiful, and some of the staff are notably more dedicated than others. Overall, the hotel feels dated and lacks any “wow” factor (except for its beautiful beach and location). The service and standards of professionalism are not five-star or on par with other Shangri-La resorts around the world. I visited both spas at the resort and left without making a booking at either. They felt unwelcoming, and the staff seemed disinterested and uninviting. The food overall is just okay. The Indian restaurant was good, but the lunch restaurant by the beach was of poor quality. One of the dishes we ordered was inedible, and we informed the team that it tasted off/poor in quality. They did not remove it from the bill but instead gave two complimentary scoops of ice cream (a nice gesture, but for a five-star resort, this is not the standard). Breakfast service is a bit chaotic, and the staff seem overwhelmed. A guest service manager was going around obtaining feedback, but it felt more like he was completing a chore rather than being genuinely interested. Afternoon tea was another letdown, with staff lacking five-star training. The gentleman who seated us seemed hostile—there was no welcome, no introduction to the service, and no service flair. It felt like another chore. The gym is okay—small and also falls under the “dated” category. The beach is beautiful, and the pool is nice. During checkout, no invoice was offered or emailed, and I wasn’t asked for feedback. While the receptionist was somewhat nice, he seemed primarily concerned about the bill. This reflects a recurring theme at the hotel, which appears to stem from a management focused on money rather than guest experience. Almost a week after returning home, I received a phone call from the hotel saying they had made a mistake and forgotten to charge me for room service. I’m unsure how this happened, but they said their employee made a “mistake.” They hounded me with emails and texts about this trivial amount and sent me “Final Reminder” emails, as if I were a debt collector’s target. The issue here isn’t the amount—I’m happy to pay for what I consumed—but rather how the hotel handled their own mistake. Especially for a five-star hotel, you’d expect them to learn from it and use it as a training opportunity for staff. Instead, it’s poor management to chase a guest a week later and send “Final Reminder” emails. When they called, I told them to send me a payment link and that I would pay it when I had the chance. However, it seemed like, because I didn’t pay right after hanging up, they pursued me like a loan shark. Overall, the hotel is in a beautiful location and provides a nice getaway, but there are major inconsistencies with the staff. Some are friendly and welcoming, while others are poorly trained and hostile. This is not a culinary experience—if you’re a foodie, look elsewhere. I would not return here due to how the hotel made me feel overall, and I believe it is poorly managed. It’s not a Shangri-La!

Located in a breathtaking mountainous area of Oman (Nizwa) that can only be reached by private shuttle or SUV, this is a very exclusive and luxurious resort. The villas are large and beautifully appointed, with a large private pool. The grounds are manicured but at the same time blending in with the landscape. The infinity pool with incredible vistas of the canyons and mountains is the highlight of the place. The only improvement point is the restaurants, which at night time we found not to be at the same level as the rest of the hotel services. The food was only average. Great stay overall and excellent customer service.

I spent two nights at this wonderful resort, everything was above expectations just wow everything the hotel rooms the view the breakfast the staff. I would like to thank Nelly who works in the Italian restaurant, she was very kind to us, helpful, she made my experience more than wonderful. Also I would like to thank Rami, who welcomed us from the beginning and took us on a tour of the resort. He was very kind The Italian restaurant staff is very nice. Experience was magical , i stayed in the villa with the mountain view it was sensational. What i did not like was the fact that the couches were not comfortable nor the pillows. In regards to the house keeping i noticed the bath robes were torn and we had to emphasize on cleaning spotless so we get things done perfectly. Otherwise the view , the pool and the villa were amazing. Another negative point is that the room coffee was really bad.

The view is EVERYTHING! You are on a mountain peak, and can enjoy the highpoint views from most spots in the hotel. It is profoundly quiet, which if you are looking to relax, and enjoy the sun with a cool breeze is just perfect. The drive up is slightly tiresome, and when you arrive (With your own car) you are expected to park it yourself, which I thought was a bit odd for a 5-Star hotel. (Hence the 4-Star rating for this review). Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend this place when visiting Jabal Akhdar.

Hands down, without any doubt, by far, one of the best resorts we have ever been to, and we have been to many resorts including Maldives a few times. This resort is very much comparable with Blu Radisson Maldives. It leaves other GCC resorts in dust. The staff are SUPER friendly. The environment is phenomenal. The location is top notch, literally. It is very obvious it is being managed right. Chef Yazan and his team at Al Qalaa were Michelin level, superb. We were greeted by the lovely manager Maren at the start and saw us everyday making sure we were having a great time. At the cafe Rai was so lovely and attentive. Malik, the local personal was always around and available, kind and informative. The room was huge with an amazing sunset view. The beds were super comfortable. I would give this location 10 stars if there was the option
