A Luxurious Beachfront Resort
Dusit Thani Laguna, Phuket is like heaven just on the beach. We spent two nights there in the month of October’24. The lounge and reception area were vast and very cozy. They welcomed us with authentic Thai hospitality and helped us a lot to get early check in which was much needed after an overnight journey. We were at sea view room, very spacious with a balcony overlooking the sea. Room was very well maintained, with all modern facilities, bath amenities and a bathtub. They have a fantastic beachfront restaurant from where you can enjoy spectacular sunset in Andaman sea. The restaurant also arranges live music at night… overall ambience was super cool and romantic. The lawn was vast with a large pool. Evening views of the resort were just amazing. The breakfast spread was good though Indian and vegetarian options were relatively less. Overall is a very luxurious beachfront resort for vacations of any purpose.

The service was 10 out of 10 however the rooms were not as advertised. We originally booked the villa which was advertised almost like a single level villa. However it was three levels with the pool at the top the kitchen and lounge room in the middle and the bedrooms on the bottom floor, which was quite inconvenient, especially travelling with a toddler. We then requested to move to a smaller room so we moved to the landmark suite which was nicer for us compared to the villa. However the lighting was very poor. The room had ants in the bathroom and the decor was very outdated. Again, it did not look like the pictures on the website. I personally wouldn’t say that this is a five star hotel as I have previously stayed at five star hotels and this wasn’t exactly aligned with five star expectations. The service is truly great and the staff are very accomodating but this and the view is what stood out for me. The pool is average and needs some updates as do the sunbeds that have holes in them and are torn. I don’t believe that this hotel should be advertised as 5 star until renovations are finished and furniture is updated. I probably wouldn’t stay here again which I feel horrible writing because the staff were so great. Thank you to the accommodating staff for their services, we really appreciate it.

Being near a laguna, it’s understandable that there will be some sort of bugs. But the situation at Dusit Thani Lauguna Phuket is definitely worst that I’ve ever seen, worst than a campsite. The place is infested with insects, and the hotel couldn’t even get so much as a mosquito candle for the property or get the staff to clean the dead mosquitos off the floor before they let another guest come in.
And what’s even worst - unhelpful staff. The first time I’ve called reception to ask for ANYTHING - bug spray, mosquito candle. They said “okay”, hung up on me, and never brought a thing. Second time we went to front desk to ask. While they said they would help, we came back from dinner with absolutely nothing done. Actually we were welcomed with even more insects in our room.
Would NOT recommend.

Location : Wonderful if you are seeking the beach on your door step and some quiet. If you are looking for a wide selection of shops and restaurants, then this is quite a distance from the Old Town or city area, and taxis + ride-hailing is not cheap (e.g. it cost 200 Baht to go to the nearest large supermarket/restaurants area called Porto de Phuket, even though it is only 1.8km away)
Hotel buildings/rooms: It's evident from the structure and grounds that this used to be a grand and luxurious hotel.
The room we stayed in (the Landmark Suite) was spacious. However the age is evident - from the stained marble floors, cracked wooden doors. The TV had no option to mirror or Netflix installed. Like other reviewers mentioned, there is a strong musty smell, whether from the sewerage outside or the moldy air-conditioners.
Upgrading works are ongoing and hopefully they will restore the hotel to its previous glory.
F & B : The breakfast selection was great and the staff were courteous and professional. I am still amazed by the main staff at the eggs/waffle/noodle station - he could remember the orders perfectly (I ordered 2 different selection of ingredients for 2 omelets)
The cocktails at the bar were good, and again the staff there are friendly and warm.
Other than 1 reception staff who was a little rude and unhelpful, everyone we came across was very helpful, kind and friendly. The service of this hotel makes it 5 star, even if the current state of the hotel is not.

-The whole hotel is beach front(like 1 KM long) unlike other hotel that has small beach front area.
