The Fives Downtown Hotel & Residences

The location of the hotel is perfect, few minutes walk from the ferry. The room is nice and basic. We really enjoyed from the pool and the jacuzzi. One of the elevators didn’t work, so each time we went out we waited a lot of time for the working elevator to come. I personally don’t recommend on the breakfast in the hotel, you have only few things to choose from to eat.

This was my second time staying at this hotel. My first time earlier in the year was excellent. Everyone seemed to really care about the guest experience. This time it felt more complacent. I was told my room would probably be ready by 2pm. When it wasn’t I didn’t think it was a big deal because check in is 3pm but then it wasn’t ready for 3pm and I had to wait in the lobby until about 3:50pm before I could get the key. On my second day housekeeping was really late so by the time I came back to my room after the pool at 4pm it still hadn’t been cleaned. I changed quickly and left as I didn’t want them to skip my room. It was done sometime after 4:45pm. The third day it was not done at all. I again returned to my room after 4pm and it hadn’t been done so I switched sign to do not disturb while I showered. Left my room by 5pm and made sure the “clean my room” sign was showing (there were 3 housekeeping carts in the hallway) when I came back an hour later all the carts were gone but my room had not been cleaned. I went to front desk and expressed my concern. He did not seem concerned and just asked me if I had the do not disturb sign on. I explained all the timing of the day and he said maybe it would just be late. I expressed that none of the carts were in the hallway anymore. He just said they will maybe get me some clean towels. During all this time he never asked for my room number and just seemed to be waiting for me to walk away. I finally said well my room is…. And then he seemed surprised and went on his radio. My room never got cleaned and towels were just left on my bed. I was really disappointed bc the whole reason I booked the hotel instead of an air bnb was to get the conveniences like room cleaning. Just made me wonder what I was paying the money for. Cristina was not at the hotel during my stay and I don’t know if that makes a difference as at the rooftop service was very inconsistent as well. Some were checking in regularly. Others would disappear and one gentlemen seemed annoyed I ordered a drink from someone other than him but he hadn’t come by my chair in about 2 hours at that point. The hotel is really pretty and can’t beat the view at the pool but I may consider trying a different property when I come back in a few months. Prices are going up but quality down.

One bedroom suite with balcony jacuzzi is fabulous, with its own kitchen, full sized fridge and even stovetop and oven (or maybe air fryer? I’m so not cooking on this trip). Rooftop pool, bar and restaurant are just wonderful. Fantastic service from Irving, and loved the padded comfortable lounge chairs, beautiful wraparound infinity pool with a view of the Caribbean and a large hot tub. Food is good and well priced. Only downside so far is not even hotel’s fault - the massively loud nightclub a few blocks away partying well past 3am on Thursday night, so good headphones or earplugs a must if you want ocean view.

We are super fans of the weekend brunch at Lola’s Rooftop. Service and food are always super nice and the ocean view is simply amazing! The waiters are always friendly and attentive but today Irving went above and beyond to please us . I would like to personally thank him and congratulate him for his excellent service and attitude. I wish more restaurants had staff half as good as the staff here at The Fives . In previous times Cristina has also been amazing! They really exceeded our expectations every time ! ☺️☺️☺️☺️

We had a fantastic stay at the Fives Downtown. We loved the convenient location that was close to everything downtown but still quiet. The rooftop pool and restaurant are wonderful— we loved the weekend brunch, especially. The service is great and the staff are friendly. Thanks to Christina, Carlos, and Edgar for taking good care of us. My daughter and I also had spa treatments and they were wonderful and relaxing. We hate to say goodbye ♥️.
