We stayed at the STRAT for New Year’s, and overall it was a very comfortable and pleasant experience. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-maintained, giving us plenty of room to relax after long days out on the Strip. One thing we really appreciated was the self-check-in kiosks. The process was quick and efficient, and we didn’t have to wait at all. It easily saved us 30–40 minutes, which is pretty typical at large casino hotels (especially around New Year’s) so that was a big plus and helped us start our trip stress-free. The hotel’s location is another thing to note. Since it’s the first hotel on the Strip (Northside), it’s a bit far from the main hustle and bustle. The upside is that it feels calmer and less chaotic, but the trade-off is a 30-40 minute walk to reach the more happening areas of the Strip. Depending on your plans, this can either be a peaceful bonus or something to plan around. Parking was plentiful and convenient, though it does come at an additional cost of $20 per day. Overall, considering the comfort, cleanliness, and smooth check-in experience, especially during a busy holiday, it was a good value for the price we paid.

My room wasn't ready for check in, so they tried to get me to take another room, which they were calling an upgrade at the time, for more money. I was exhausted, so I did. It was actually a downgrade to a less spacious king room from the two queens room that I initially booked. To add insult to injury, the temperature control wouldn't work in the room and I was freezing with the AC running on 63. I had to call the front desk 3 times and waiting an hour before actually having to go down to talk to them directly to get someone to come and take a look at the heating unit. A few minutes later, a big guy comes to my door and asks me what the issue is. He was clearly drunk. I don't know if this was a tactic to intimidate me or what, but I was making escape plans in my head because I half feared for my safety. Turns out he was the service person (who was drunk on duty). He meddled with the temperature panel and told me that the hot water was shut off and that's why there was no heating. Fun. The next day when I wake up there is no water in the bathroom, so I call up the front desk again. They say they had an emergency and are not sure when water will be back on. I found it ridiculous that I was having this experience in a hotel. I had to get ready and leave for my plans for the day, all of which were delayed by 2 hours waiting for the water, and had to cut out some sightseeing to make it to my evening shows. When I asked the front desk to refund my upgrade charge as a goodwill gesture in return for the plethora of inconveniences that one never should be facing at a hotel, they denied me point blank. Not to mention the location sucks and it's too far from the happening places on the strip and the Uber adds up. PS: also ridiculous that they have the audacity to charge a 56$ daily resort fee for the sluggish Internet that is restricted to devices per room the non-existent running water, and the smallest gym a hotel that big could have.

This was one of the the most disappointing hotels I have stayed in. The room was booked and prepaid online using a popular travel site. During check-in, the room that was booked did not have the amenities on the booking. We would need to pay for one of the upgraded rooms which was an extra $50 per night. Add on the resort fee and I have now doubleed the cost of the room. They have pictures in the elevator of the new upgraded rooms. Ours looked nothing like the picture. It looked like it had not been updated since the mid 80s, save the shower which looked newer. The bathroom had a very strong odor of weed. The mattress had not been replaced since the hotel opened. There were so many flat spots, I could have slept on the floor and been more comfortable if I thought it was clean enough. On top of this, parking was not included or discontinued for hotel guests. I will not be returning to the Strat.

I was told the hotel was recently renovated, but it looks like a lot of the spaces were given the landlord special. The main casino floor is so nice, but in the corridors the carpet was loose and bunched up in spots. Wasn’t that big of a deal until I left my room in my heels, then it got a little interesting. I also was not satisfied with the cleanliness of the rooms. On the wall next to the sink there were toothpaste splashes and the floor in the bathroom was very hairy and dusty. The towels sucked, minimal size choices and the largest one is not for a body lol. Our shower also didn’t drain well so showers had to be quick. The wallpaper by the window was so messed up too, it just felt kinda cheap. I will say the staff was great, someone helped my friend find a thermometer for her daughter and everyone was so nice. The tower was super cool and the bar up there is neat. The elevator ride up the tower was a little scary to be honest, it’s so face and you can feel it just beating against the sides.

I’ve stayed at The STRAT over 5 times in the last 12 months, and I keep coming back for a reason. Although it’s one of the older hotels and located toward the end of the Strip, it’s been newly remodeled and continues to improve. Starting with the casino — there are plenty of machines and tables to keep you entertained. My only complaint is the smoke. The filtration could definitely be better, as the smoke smell can be pretty heavy, especially for non-smokers. I always remember to bring eye drops because of it. The variety of restaurants is perfect — from a casual sports grill to a nice steakhouse. I’ve eaten at all the main spots, and the food has been consistently great. I also appreciate that they cater to vegetarian options. There are two small markets in the main casino area, which are super convenient if you forgot toiletries or want to grab a souvenir. Check-in feels a bit old school. While you can do digital check-in, there’s no digital key, so you still have to stop by the front desk for your room keys. A fully digital option would definitely streamline the process. The comedy show is amazing — I’ve never been disappointed. There’s honestly so much to do. I still haven’t explored the second floor of the casino or experienced Atomic Golf yet, so I may need to write another review after my next trip. Every time we go back, we discover something new. Now let’s talk about the rooms. Some are nicer than others, but overall they’re comfortable. The beds and pillows are just right — not too firm, not too soft. There’s a coffee machine and mini fridge, which is great if you like bringing your own drinks and snacks. The lighting in the room is excellent, though I would suggest adding a magnified mirror. More outlets would also help — especially when ironing. I’ve found myself squeezing the ironing board into the bathroom doorway just to make it work. The AC worked fine, though it was a little tricky to get the temperature just right. The downstairs bar has amazing live entertainment, a good-sized dance floor, and bartenders who know how to make a great martini. Yes, the area right outside the casino can feel a little rough at times, and the crowd is definitely a mix of all types. But don’t let that affect your decision. I’ve gone for family weekend getaways and romantic trips with just my husband, and we’ve always had a great time. Overall, I truly enjoy my stays here and will continue to return. Things I would change: Better smoke filtration More drawers for organizing (working nightstand drawers would help) Add digital room keys Put a little more effort into seasonal decorations Additional outlets in the rooms Looking forward to my next stay!
