Love this hotel! Great mix of party activities and relaxation! We did a silent party, Aquasize every day (Mitzi, Daniel and Christian were amazing!!) , Margarita making, And So many pool games!! The foam party was awesome too! Overall, the steakhouse and Mexican restaurant were definitely the best, but the buffet was really solid. Great vacation!

I had a great time at the Wyndham Alltra Playa Del Carmen, Adults Only – All-Inclusive Resort. My friends and I loved the service! The entertainment and sport staff were friendly and engaging! A big thank you to Alma at the front desk! Our room was spacious and faced the main road. The breakfast buffet was excellent. I tried their Italian and steakhouse restaurant on site for dinner and preferred the Italian as their service was excellent. Overall I would recommend the resort if you are looking for a chill and relaxing getaway. The location is very convenient as it was close to Fifth Avenue! Thank you for the amazing experience!

Me and my boyfriend visited the resort in June And it was the best week ever! The service there was absolutely amazing. Everyone is extremely Friendly and helpful! We loved the sushi bar and the Mexican restaurant. It is also a minute away from the main strip where you can visit lots of shops, ice cream parlours and the mall! The beach was great for exploring and finding lots of shells and pieces of coral it was a bit rocky though. The resort is a decent size so it wasn’t too busy and sometimes we had the whole beach or pool to ourselves, which was awesome! The drinks and service at the bar are really good! We seen a few small lizards and some iguanas which was very cool! They also have lots of daily activities and night time entertainment!

We stayed in several all-inclusive resorts in this region and I put this one in the middle of the pack.
Pros
The location for walking in the downtown Playa del Carmen area is excellent.
The staff are very attentive, friendly and professional.
The cleaning services are impeccable. Our room was always incredibly clean and our housekeeper was top-notch.
Cons
We traveled and booked two separate rooms for two couples. We'd hope to stay at least near each other but there was no effort made to even inquire which part of the resort we'd like to be in or if we'd like to be close. It also felt like if you did not pay for upgraded rooms you got pretty unfavorable locations. It would have been great if they'd ask What you prefer in your room location or at least gave you options from what was available. Our room was close to the lobby and pool which meant that we had a lot of noise from drunk people partying all night. It was also right next to the busy street so there was a lot of outdoor noise as well. The other couple that traveled with us was placed in a room right next to the elevator. We would have preferred to be in rooms further from the noise in a quieter spot.
Many of the restaurants require reservations. This is not clearly called out in the app or in the property details when you're booking. We were notified after we checked in How many of the restaurants required reservations. You have to go to a desk or call the desk to make reservations and that desk is only staffed during select hours. This was difficult for us because we were doing a lot of scuba diving on this trip and had to leave early mornings and came back in the evening which meant it was difficult for us to get reservations with the desk. It would be nice to be able to make reservations through the app or other methods. Overall the food quality was good and on par with many of the other four-star all inclusives we've stayed in.
The bars are horribly understaffed. We did a private cabana by the pool several days and oftentimes still had to get our own drinks. The staff and bartenders work incredibly hard and do their best but they're simply not enough of them given the number of people at the pool and bars. It was not uncommon to stand at a bar for over a half hour to get a drink and the pool bar generally only had one bartender.
There is very little beach at this resort. There is only one primary pool and a small secondary pool up on the roof and then a small section of beach at one end of the property. Many of the other resorts we've stayed at have more pools giving you a choice to be in the middle of all the noise and party or go someplace a little quieter. The small section of beach they have is nice but it is much smaller unless usable (rocky and few chairs/loungers available) than many of the other resorts we've stayed at.

Let's start with the not too good.
The beach area is tiny, full of rocks and not very swimmable very very disappointing if your looking to swim from the hotel with not enough shaded area for the amount of people that are there. You have to go to the beach about 400m away to swim.
They're " sea view room " is a street view with cars and another hotel in front with a minuscule blue of ocean. Make sure you ask for a room further towards the ocean otherwise your seaview will be a street view ( how can they advertise sea view and be a street view and get away with it?) I guess because it's Mexico.
Good luck finding a chair at the main pool unless you wake up at 530 am run down to the pool and place a towel on a chair. Not once were we able to sit by the pool as all the chairs are always taken. Again very disappointed . Plus they rent out the gazebos for extra $$....
They have another very small pool again with limited seating.
The woman at the coffee shop needs to learn how to make coffee properly and to make everyones coffee the way they ask for it.
The staff are what make this hotel, very polite and accommodating especially at the restaurants and bars.
Need more fresh fruit at the morning buffet, It always seemed like the fruits were almost always over ripened.
Would we come back here, absolutely not, we had a good time because we were out of the resort most of the time on excursions.
Make sure to get receipts of all your payments, clerks are very wise.
