I went for afternoon tea with a friend - paid for by my sister for my birthday. All the staff were very friendly and service was impeccable. It's a fascinating place and very opulent, steeped in history. The tea itself was lovely with a lot of variety. A very nice treat but too expensive to do it very often.

Well kept older hotel. Lots of fun history of famous guests. Service was excellent across the board, food, rooms, pool, etc. The breakfast and the seaside swimming area (in the ocean) was particularly fantastic.

Booked afternoon tea at this wonderful famous hotel for our anniversary. A truly wonderful, unforgettable experience. Fantastic views of Funchal from our balcony table and the food and drinks were exquisite. The staff were lovely and could not do enough for you, even asking if you wanted more sandwiches and told me that Winston Churchill's favourite table was right behind me. Wish i knew that before we sat down. We are considering visiting Madeira again, just so we can visit Reid's Palace, A Belmont, Hotel for afternoon tea.

Afternoon tea is a firm favourite with us and tea at Reid's was a treat. Reid's is imposing, any 5 star hotel is, but tea on the balcony overlooking Funchal Bay is really something. It's the location that makes it, the staff were great, the service excellent, the food good and the choice of tea excellent. We had to wait before being seated, it's a popular place, but it didn't matter. A great experience. 8 out of 10.

Had a beautiful and fabulous stay at Reid's in September. Everything was on point and you truly do not lift a finger here. You are greeted by attentive staff who are eager to help make your vacation special. The rooms are beautiful, beds are comfortable and rooms are equipped with Dyson blowdryers. The hotel grounds and amenities truly feel like heaven on Earth and paradise. Also, since there isn't a high amount of keys, the hotel never feels crowded, even in high season. Food was great. Also, what's so impressive about this property is how much they talk to their guests and get to know them. For example, every Tuesday guests have the ability to join the GM's cocktail reception where music plays, drinks and canapés are served and the GM greets and talks with every guest. He also greets guests at their table at breakfast in the morning. We had such an amazing time and we will definitely be returning as soon as we can.
