We visited the Cliff bar at this stunning, classic hotel in Nov 2024. Although we didn’t stay at the hotel, we were impressed by its beautiful interiors and overall charm. Based on this experience, we’re already planning to stay here for a couple of days next year!
The bar itself was elegantly designed—sophisticated with an amazing sunset view at the outdoor seating area. They were kind enough to prepare a vegetarian pasta that wasn’t on the menu. We also ordered a few drinks, and both were delightful. The pasta was well-prepared, and the drinks complemented the ambiance perfectly.
The service was excellent—attentive and professional, which made the experience even more enjoyable. There was live music and happy hour between 5-6 pm.
The hotel exuded an old-world charm, blending timeless elegance with modern sophistication. Its location was also fantastic, making it even more appealing.
Overall, this was a wonderful experience, and we can’t wait to return for a longer stay next time!

We have spent a week at the hotel. The resort is very nice and spacious (more classic than modern) and you can easily relax, access the pools and the ocean or do sports. The service personnel is very friendly and courteous.
The restaurants are great too, in particular the daily fresh fish offers.
A major plus is the childcare the hotel offers. Any parent can relate to the anxiety connected to handing your child over to strangers, but we could not have imagined anyone more up to the task than Rita, big thanks again!

We stayed at Cliff Bay during our honeymoon to Portugal. The staff was fantastic and the view from our room looking across the bay to Funchal was amazing. The breakfast buffet was also extensive and a great way to start the day. The walk to central Funchal was only about 30 minutes and very pedestrian friendly. The staff was happy to help arrange a taxi if needed.

This place is amazing! Our second trip here and it continues to outdo itself with fantastic staff that are so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are perfect, with amazing views and a fantastic size. Our 10 year old daughter feels right at home and the staff are so welcoming to her. The food is fantastic too and the happy hour on the pier even better. We were very sad to leave and will be back next year again! Thank you for such an amazing holiday.

Fabulous hotel, we were upgraded to a sea view room with a lovely sheltered (it was quite windy) room. The hotel has three restaurants within the site and we ate at two of the three - The Rose Garden and Il Basilico Madeira which is in a sister hotel nearby. We also ate at Avista which was excellent service food and with a beautiful sea view room. The Rose Garden was also extremely good and a fabulous breakfast is served there every morning. The facilities at the hotel are fantastic as well. Would highly recommend .
