I would prefer this to sleeping little spoon with Bigfoot in Central Park, but just barely. The hotel was the worst part of my stay in NYC with my family. Other than the hotel, we had a great time and the hotel has a fantastic location. When we booked the hotel over a month before our intended stay, the marketing messages and hotel guest services all proclaimed that the hotel was newly renovated and that the rooms were all quiet. The rooms we stayed in, all 3, were newly renovated. Other parts of the hotel were undergoing renovation when we were staying there for a week in late March to early April. We had booked a high floor double queen room, hoping to avoid the street noise of NYC. The first room they placed us in was on the 18th floor, 1806. It was nice and looked as advertised, but wasn't really on a high floor (there are 55 floors to the hotel). We could hear a lot of street noise. We complained and they offered to move us in a couple of nights to a higher room, and they didn't have anything else available at that moment. When I went looking for an ice machine, there wasn't one on my floor, or two above me, and then I went exploring downward and found that from floor 16 down they were still in various stages of renovation from carpeting or furnishings or tile and trim work. I ended up back on the 4th floor front desk to get ice. There is also no independent air conditioning and to get the room to stay below 75, we had to leave the window open the 2 inch crack that it would allow, which helped cool the room but let in more street noise. When they moved us on Sunday, we did get moved to the 52nd floor, 5206, but that only lasted one night as we were woken by more renovation work. This time it sounded like it was in a floor directly above us and was either a miter saw or a tile saw for flooring. The heat situation in this room was actually worse than the one on 18, 1805, and we still had to keep the window open. Monday they moved us to the 36th floor, where we just stopped complaining and dealt with any further issues for the last 4 nights of our stay. The room was at least quieter and didn't have us dealing with renovation sounds starting in the morning, but it did still have the heating issue. Again, we couldn't get the room to ever go below 73-75 without keeping the window open, which allowed more street noise. I know it sounds like petty complaints, but we did ask before we booked the rooms if they were climate controlled and quiet. We complained about the heat to the front desk and they sent up a maintenance person. That person explained that the building's boiler doesn't switch off really til late April so just keep everything turned off. Also, the fact that the folks we talked to before booking said that the hotel was fully renovated and not disclose that it was currently still undergoing renovations seem dodgy too. If we had known that, we likely would have sought other accommodations, because we do like to actually sleep when we're on vacation. One last note, when you try to ring the front desk from your room, you actually get a little AI agent to start with. This AI agent makes sounds that seem like she's typing something into a computer, but you can blatantly tell it's a computer and the novelty wears off after the first question. It does ok if you need to order towels, but is woefully unhelpful when you need something an actual person needs to answer like "why is my room so hot," or "who's running a table saw at 8 am?"

AC doesn't work so the room is too hot to sleep in. Had it set to 65 the whole time and it never got below 74. Fridge would not get cold. Shotty remodeling. Under construction general areas. No water pressure. Centrally located downtown. Paid for an extra 50 sq ft in room and it was needed. Edit: So apparently they have no air conditioning in the building and failed to disclose this at any time prior to confronting them about the hot room. It is due to their ongoing construction and has no planned date or time for being reimplemented. Their solution is to send someone up to open the window, which does nothing to change the ambient temperature in the room. DO NOT BOOK HERE. It's a 2 star hotel masked by a 4 star location.

This was my experience checking into this hotel last night: Upon entering my room, I tried to close my motorised curtains but the controls weren’t working. So I tried to call the reception to ask for help, however there was no phone in my room! So I made my way down to the front desk to inform them of my problem and was told someone would go to my room to help me. After waiting for at least half an hour and with no one coming, I again made my way down to the front desk. The same person who attended to me at first asked for my room number once again, then told me to wait while he checked on something. Just as he was about to tell me to continue waiting in my room, I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands. I asked for a change of room and for one with at least a phone inside. My request was accepted. After moving all my luggage from my first room to the second (which was on a different floor), I noticed that the curtains this time were manual, not motorised, and at least there was a working phone. I could finally unpack and wash up after that frankly unnecessary hour of trouble. Very disappointing.

First off, the hotel is NOT RENOVATED, but UNDER CONSTRUCTION. When I called before I booked a room, the front desk person I talked to made it seem like everything was newly renovated. It's not. There is constant construction, and at one point, it sounded like Jackhammers right above our room. Second, the rooms are HOT. Even though we set the room to 65, it refuses to go below 75 degrees. In order to not feel like death, we have to open the window. That barely helps, but it makes it less miserable. Third, when I talked to a person before booking, they made it sound like the higher floors were quiet and we would not have to worry about street noise. The guy at the front desk made it sound like the high floors were amazing. Even on the 52nd floor, you can hear EVERYTHING FROM THE STREETS. And since it's NYC, the city that never sleeps, we can hear construction at 2am!!! And the lovely people of NYC really enjoy honking their horns to establish dominance or whatever, because it surely doesn't help them get anywhere faster! Also, it's loud because we have to keep the window open all night due to the extreme heat in the room! 75+ degrees is crazy! Fourth, since it's not renovated, there is no restaurant or market like they show on their site. The ridiculous resort fee is outrageous because this building is UNDER CONSTRUCTION! This is not a resort either. Most hotels in NYC that make you pay a Resort fee at least offer $10/day towards a market and other amenities. But, they don't have this because it's UNDER CONSTRUCTION. Finally, I am overall EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in this hotel. Before I booked online, weeks in advance, the front desk made it sound like it was newly renovated/quiet with beautiful views. They did not mention the construction. Also, we have not been able to sleep due to the HOT ROOM . I was so excited to find this place and I will NEVER book here again.

Positives - nice location and nice views from the room. Negatives- Everything else. The lobby is a construction zone, you have to go to a 4th floor conference room for the temporary front desk. The room was no better. It looks to have been recently remodeled but was very basic and plain. The toliet flush knob was falling out of the toilet and you had to hold it back in to flush the toilet. The air vent in the shower was filthy with years worth of dust. The room was very hot, I set the AC to 65 and it ran nonstop and never cooled the room lower than 74 degrees. So I was sweating all night. The TV guide menu with the frizzy TV static background looks like something out of a 90's motel not a 4 star hotel. Definitely not worth the nightly cost other than the fact that it's in a good location with nice views.
