We had the best week of our lives at this resort! The staff is so friendly (shout out to Arturo!), the rooms are updated and comfortable (get an ocean view room), the pools and grounds are wonderful. We truly had zero complaints. Our only issue was finding pool towels on the first day. They are by the pirate ship kids pool. The restaurants do not take reservations, but we were always able to get a seat. The poolside restaurants and bars were amazing. Highly recommend booking a cabana for a day. Overall, we had such a relaxing week and were SO well taken care of. We can’t wait to come back!

I booked two OCEAN FRONT rooms at this hotel.
One of the rooms was supposed to be with a king size bed. They just told me that they do not have any rooms with king bed available even though the reservation was made 5 to 6 months earlier. It turned out that it was nothing compare to the rooms they gave us. Instead of OCEAN FRONT rooms we were given rooms showed on the picture. It was not even ocean view but either partial ocean view or just pool view rooms.
When I asked the front desk manager to give us rooms we paid for, she just said that this is all they had available.
Horrible experience!!!

Drinks and pool are fine. Beach front is sloped and I wouldn’t recommend it for a family with kids that want to play.
Rooms are old but ok and fairly clean.
Buffet is ok. If you come here, only eat at the buffet. Every single restaurant is AWFUL. honestly, terrible food- the fact that the Mexican restaurant was one of the worst Mexican restaurants I have ever been to (how do you mess that up in Mexico). Holy crap- not only was the food terrible but I think the hotel is understaffed and it is very slow- which is hard when you have little ones who need to eat.
The Argentinian restaurant with a formal dress code is laughable. Every cut of meat was purely fat and razor thin. What????? They really need to revamp their food options.
Otherwise staff is kind and hospitable. This would be a pretty decent place if the food was actually edible. You get what you pay for I suppose. The google reviews are very misleading.
This place is touted as kid friendly and I would have to disagree. Lunch starts too late- nothing really opens for lunch until 12. This is tough if you have a toddler that eats at 11 and needs to nap at 12. I’d consider room service but the options are not healthy (hamburgers and hot dogs). They would benefit from more flexible lunch time hours as well as a variety of food available earlier poolside.

If you value your money, comfort, and sanity, avoid this place at all costs—unless you’re okay with being treated like a fool. This is, hands down, one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve ever had.
1. Wristbands
You’re forced to wear an uncomfortable wristband 24/7—even while sleeping. Lose it? That’ll cost you $150. Seriously, what kind of policy is this? We had to request a looser one just to survive the stay.
2. Reception Lies
We asked about a room upgrade, and they said it wasn’t possible due to full booking but promised to try the next day. Turns out, they were still selling rooms online! When we showed proof, they offered a 50% discount but then rudely argued, “Why should we upgrade you for free?” Are you kidding? Why lie in the first place? Just say no upfront instead of insulting our intelligence.
3. Freezing Rooms
Our room was stuck at 23°C (73°F), and the heater didn’t work—because there wasn’t one. Their solution? “Want another blanket?” How is this acceptable? If you can’t heat your rooms in December, disclose this when selling them. We had to layer up like we were camping.
4. Terrible Soundproofing
The walls are paper-thin, and the bathroom design is ridiculous. Turn on the light, and the whole room lights up—great for waking everyone up at night.
5. Dining Chaos
Booking restaurants is nearly impossible, and if you’re on the all-inclusive plan, you’re stuck with the buffet. Honestly, just eat breakfast somewhere else.
This place may look glamorous on the outside, but it’s all a facade. Unless you enjoy being cold, lied to, and treated like a joke, do yourself a favor and book literally anywhere else.

My family and I visit Cancun every year and have been to numerous all inclusive resorts. Fiesta Americana in Cancun is the only one we have ever returned to because we love it so much. Our first visit was in 2019 and each time we would book a different resort for our annual Cancun trip we would always regret that we didn’t return to Fiesta Americana. This year we were able to return and I’m pleased to say the resort is even better than it was five years ago.
I agree with other reviewers that the rooms could use some updates. However, we were upgraded to a plunge pool room, which was a nice surprise. I’m not sure if it helped, but I booked direct. Fiesta Americana may not be the fanciest resort if that’s what you’re looking for, but it is a great value compared to other resorts in the area. We also love the openness and unique style. My only gripe would be that I wish the resort wouldn’t allow dogs. It’s a personal preference for me due to allergy sensitivities.
What sets this resort apart from the others is the food. Everything is so good and flavorful with numerous options. My favorites are the Cevicheria outside by the beach and the taco place in the lobby. We were able to dine at all of the restaurants. People cancel reservations or they don’t show up and if you check with the hostess you can get a table. The Christmas Eve buffet was also quite elaborate with upgraded options such as lobster.
My six year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed all of the kids’ activities and Christmas activities. The Christmas show was entertaining and well choreographed. Santa visited on Christmas morning with gifts just before we checked out.
On a final note, I am handicapped and a wheelchair user and it can be challenging to find an accessible resort in Cancun. Fiesta Americana has ramps throughout the resort and I saw a number of guests in wheelchairs.
