This is a 3 star, not 4. It has been downgraded due to poorer standards. I have just returned from this hotel. It is trying to upgrade beds (appear to be very comfortable as well) due to a recent outbreak of bed bugs. ( we never experienced this, but it has had an outbreak) I went to this hotel about 15 yrs ago and only revisited as a friend was staying 100 yards away. There have been no updates to the property since I visited previously. So far as to say it is well used and dated. The luxury spa (as advertised) is far from. The only areas of the spa areas working were the steam and sauna. The hot/cold treatment caves were not. The gym has out if date equipment and definitely breaches health and safety. There is no workable/adjustable equipment, which consists of 2 bikes (you need to have long legs to climb on), 1 cross trainer, and 1 treadmill. Very disappointing as I was looking forward to using these facilities, particularly as the weather was not as nice. It was full when 3/4 people were in there. The food is bland, tastes the same no matter what you ate, and it was tepid. I used the microwave every day to heat my food. I understand from a waiter who seemed to be everywhere all day, dining, bars, cleaning... 10 staff were off sick and 7 new staff as he described "kids would go in the morning and didn't come back in the afternoon " What staff there were, in all services were lovely, polite and courteous Having said all this, speaking to others mainly pensioners who were staying a number of weeks. They were satisfied, so perhaps my tastes are not as open as their's? It's a beautiful hotel unfortunately in need of a serious upgrade, inside and out. And a must is to review of the catering. It seems many many people are saying the same thing about the food. For me, I will not visit again. The distance from the centre is great too, and if you're less able bodied, and have insufficient funds to pay for taxis or use the limited free bus to town your confined to the hotel as there is nothing around to visit.

Sadly, I can't give this place more stars as it just isn't worth it anymore. We visited here 15 years ago and it was good quality. However, since then, I think it's probably the same mattresses and pillows the wardrobe in our room is falling apart. The veranda has no chairs for sitting. And to be fair, these things I could have overlooked, but the food and drinks are just awful. The food is bland, and cold options are good, but it's all the same bland and cold food. The staff are lovely rooms are clean enough after reading recent reviews we were nervous of bed bugs but nothing at all on that front. The location isn't bad, just a 20 min walk into town. We complained about beds, and they did bring mattress toppers, but they didn't really help that much. Such a shame as it is an impressive looking property, and with some money spent could be 4 or 5 stars again, but the longer you wait to spend, the more that needs to be spent. There are better hotels on the island, and food is cheap enough anyway, so there is no real need for all-inclusive

Spa is dangerous and horrendous, tiles in the bottoms of the pools, missing parts of floors and walls to pools. Spa price is ridiculous for the condition of the place. food is dreadful and repetitive. Outdoor pools are terrible, absolutely freezing cold even in 20c heat. Hotel is not maintained, holes in carpets all through, leaks coming to ceiling on the 3rd and 4th floor with holes in the roof. All of the pillars that support the balcony’s for the floors are cracked and falling apart. Hallways are constantly dirty. Drinks are absolutly obsserrd for the price of them. Rooms are very old and feel like I’m back in the 70s. Rooms are not cleaned to a high standard and not enough toilet paper or towels are provided. Hand was on the walls in the shower where the shower gel should be. Lifts are not in serviceable conditions, and feel like they should be replaced. The entertainment in the nights feels like it’s made for a 3 year old. Overall a very bad experience in the hotel. Would not recommend. TVs do not work in the rooms

We've just returned and had a lovely time. We were quite concerned given the mixed reviews but pleasantly surprised. The hotel is huge with incredible views across the landscape and sea. The pool is great and there was lots to do for our son (aside from arcade where getting change for the 1E slot machines was an issue). The rooms were clean and spacious. The service was generally good - particularly given how much the staff have to do. Reception staff always helpful and problems sorted out. I really enjoyed the food as I loved all the salads and veggie stuff. There was always food available. The drinks were ok and you generally find something that works for you. My only main issue was the time of the bus to the beach; they are only in the morning and after 5.30 coming back - a 2 or 3pm bus would have been better. Its not a 'shiny' hotel, but I felt it was very relaxed - particularly if you are coming in from the pool or letting children join in at night. Some hotels would have issue with this. It all depends what you want from a holiday.......

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!! Staff are rude and unhelpful, do not like the English. Rooms are absolutely filthy, covered in uncleaned bed bug powder causing a number of guests breathing problems and chesty coughs. I found a draw full of non prescription drugs on arrival, handed to customer service Maria and got 'oh dear' no apology. I TRUELY RECOMMEND FINDING ANOTHER HOTEL.A 1 STAR RATING IS TOO HIGH FOR THIS ONE. Jet2....., you really need to take notice of the reviews and drop this from your list. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
