My stay at Aldiana Club Zanzibar Kwanza (formerly Kwanza Resort) was a peaceful and refreshing getaway. The Deluxe Swim-Up Room was an absolute treat, combining comfort with a touch of indulgence.
The food was amazing, especially on the first day—it felt like a gourmet live-cooking experience! Every meal after that was just as enjoyable.
The sunsets here are breathtaking, and the sports center kept things lively with plenty of activities to try. I even gave archery a shot for the first time (probably Zanzibar’s first archery range 🤷♂️) —a small setup but so much fun!
The F&B staff were fantastic—always smiling and happy to chat, which made the stay feel even more special.
Overall, it was such a relaxed and enjoyable experience, perfect for unwinding with a mix of fun and serenity. Highly recommended!

Overall, I would rate this hotel 3/5 stars. While there were some great aspects, there are also some areas that need improvement.
On the positive side, the food was excellent, and we had no issues with stomach problems. The sports facilities were also very good, although the surface of the paddle court needs to be replaced. Despite this, we were still able to play quite well. The drinks were good, and the selection in the all-inclusive package was sufficient, though some drinks required an additional fee.
However, there were some notable downsides. The whirlpool was broken, and the bathroom had a strong smell of sewage. Access to the sea was difficult and not very convenient. Additionally, there were ongoing construction works, though they did not disturb us much.
The biggest issue, by far, was that several turtles were kept in a pool that was far too small for them, which is entirely unnecessary and not suitable for their well-being. This was very upsetting and left a negative impression on our stay.
In conclusion, while there were some enjoyable aspects, the mistreatment of animals overshadowed the experience.

This place has the potential to be a 5 star hotel. However, there are some things that need immediate attention. For one, the staff is great but there seems to be a disconnect in the way they are trained. To have to call twice about getting the pool cleaned, to asking what kind of fish may be on the menu and not knowing, to some aggression with spa services. Also, the lack of entertainment was a disappointment. Beautiful people, great people, there just needs to be more training. I know this place is still relatively new. I hope to return one day and things have improved. More bars, more restaurants with more food options, more knowledge on things to do outside of this area will be helpful too.

Amazing resort with kind and friendly staff, always really helpful and positive and happy to share more about their culture. The rooms are spacious and the whole resort is beautiful.
There are countless activities (yoga sessions were amazing, as well as volleyball, Swahili classes, painting classes and much more). Keep an eye out on the Daily Gazette (list of what's happening each day, you can find it on the restaurant's screen and on papers at the bar, or on the website) to learn about the activities, they're great but not advertised much, would be a shame to miss them as we did the first few days. The gym is also nice and offers classes.
The food at the main restaurant is very good, and we also had a nice dinner at The Cave restaurant.
I'd definitely highly recommend staying at Kwanza if you are coming to Zanzibar. It's very calm (yet with lots to do) and doesn't feel large and commercial but rather quite cozy.
Asante sana to the lovely staff!

We stayed at Kwanza as the last part of our trip, we arrived and was warmly greeted. There was an issue with our reservation so we was offered an upgrade, which was accepted. The room was tidy, although it had a musty smell, with the bathroom slightly dated. The water in the room appeared to be sea water, so we definitely used the bottle water supplied. They provided bathrobes, we had to ask 3 times for the slippers. Also had to ask 3 times for the swim up room pool to be cleaned, it was finally done the next day. We only had B&B, they provided a very good selection, they also provide free snacks and hot drinks for 4-6pm each day which was a nice touch. We didn't have dinner at the hotel, it was cheaper to go back to Paje each night, which was probably a good thing as 4 out of the 6 of us came down with a stomach bug.
The staff were great, all warm and friendly, if I returned to Zanzibar I wouldn't return here, unless you want resort life, there's not much to do in the surrounding area
