Absolutely phenomenal experience and amazing service! All the food has been beyond amazing and the spa is amazing too. Can’t really say enough great things about our stay here. The river in the back of your villa is super unique and fun. Always heated too so it’s consistently a good temp

Hands down the best 5 star resort we have stayed in.
We are recently married and decided to spend three nights in Royal River post wedding. Royal river is exceptional from every aspect. We stayed in River villa 10 and despite our room being a wheelchair accessible room we still would not change a thing. The level of privacy, customers service and food options is outstanding! From the moment you arrive till the time you leave you are spoilt with exceptional service and atmosphere. I would highly recommend royal river to anyone who visits Tenerife! Worth every penny!
Love my Food
First impression stunning unfortunately the service falls short of a luxury experience. Absolutely not worth what you pay for. Having had the privilege to stay in luxury hotels this one in comparison is disappointing.
- Receptionist checked us in, took us to our villa (wrong villa), brought our luggage only when we asked if someone could assist. All felt clumsy
- had to specifically follow up on small details like wifi details, water for the room. Wasn’t slick
- dinner took over an hour to arrive ( ordered burgers) others who had arrived after us were eating before we were. Had to chase
- I’m a coeliac asked for gluten free bread / bun. Eventually my burger arrived with bread in the wrapper and it was a make your own burger. Really when I’m paying £50 for a burger?
- no turn down service
So yes first impression style but no substance.

Staff including manager don’t know anything about hospitality and professionalism. They give us wrong advise where to go, we have followed their instruction and that was a mistake. Pool in our villa was slippery from dirt, wasn’t clean for long time, they didn’t bother to clean our room or bring water. They had some excuses :) who cares. We’ve booked 4 nights but after 1 we decided to change hotel. And that was the best we could do, we have found something way better that royal river can dream about. Not recommending to stay there for anybody. You can find loads of better hotels in Tenerife.

Design of the hotel is amazing and fancy. But what a shame is that we found a few cockroach in the room, although they agreed for a room swap the next day. I feel like a compensation could have been done, as my wife is totally freak out after seeing 3cockroach in the room in one single night.
Overall staff is nice, but I find one thing quite weird that is the staff knock on the door before check out to check the mini bar, possiblly to see whether we consume any food and drinks. I really dont understand this, considered we paid almost €1000+ for room rate and have given our credit card for deposit. Honestly I dont think it is necessary to disturb the guest when they are still here to check the mini bar. This to me seems like not having trust in the guest, and when the staff came in and check the mini bar, I feel like it was at a point similar to interrogating criminals.
Suggest if the hotel is so scare that guests consume alcohol and not paying for it, perhaps can consider remove the expensive alcohol drinks mini bar in room.
But overall nice experience and dinning in hotel is delicious too. But more small details could take this hotel to a better stand point.
