I recently visited El Dorado for a much-needed vacation with a group of friends. This was my second time at the resort, and once again, it did not disappoint. Our concierges, Fernando and Fernanda, were exceptional—quick to accommodate any requests and bringing everything we needed right to our rooms. The steakhouse and Asian restaurant (jade) were outstanding, offering delicious meals. There was also an Italian restaurant, which wasn’t quite as impressive, but that doesn’t detract from the overall experience. If you’re looking to unwind, relax by the beach, or enjoy a drink by the pool, this resort has so much to offer. One highlight is that it’s an adults-only resort, with plenty of different spots to party or just relax.

The resort is clean and well-maintained. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Our accommodations were fine.
There were two big issues which would keep us from returning. First, we could not get a reservation at any restaurant for the night we arrived or the second night. We met with a concierge who helped us get reservations for nights 3 through 6 of our stay. We tried walking into three of restaurants on our first night but were turned away. The second night was no better. For that inconvenience we were upgraded for free at a restaurant that had a "cooking show". That was OK, but I'm glad we didn't spend $35 each for it.
The second issue was the beach/ocean. You couldn't go for a long walk on the beach or go for a swim in the ocean. The shoreline is rocky and has manmade barriers to protect the shoreline from the waves.

Butler service great. Restaurant service was slow at times. Bar products are not top shelf anymore, but still better than some other resorts. Erwin and Andre were excellent. Staff at wine kitchen great. Great staff at main pool. Other staff at meals appear to be overworked.

This was my 5th time to visit El Dorado Royale. While I've seen improvement in the overall maintenance of the buildings and facilities, I would like to offer a recommendation due to our most recent experience. The dinner reservations system was not ideal for any sort of groups of more than two couples. Also, the online reservations system was not working well - at all. We only had a group of 8 people, and while we were able to pull tables together most of the time - getting an actual "reservation" for more than 4 people would have cost us $200 for each dinner. While we did this once during our stay (for a $200 wine credit), it would be cost prohibitive for most guests, and I cannot imagine how it must turn off guests who have larger groups, like wedding families or small family reunions where groups of 6 or 8 people want to sit together. My suggestion would be to open up reservations to 6 or 8 per table at least (without additional fees - even with the "credits" for wine etc).
The beach has had erosion issues for years, so we were expecting to see the large sand bags in along the beach again, but those have been replaced by huge concrete blocks. It would be great to know if & when those might ever be removed.
I still give this resort a solid 4 stars, the food and service is really good! And the rooms are all clean and up to date.

We had a great week last week staying here. Great shows, great food and many pools to swim in. My only complaint on the room was that we had ants in our room and smelled super musky which triggered my asthma so I coughed all night long. The staff was great! The golf cart guys were great! Only complaint on staff is the pressure and begging they did when they tried to sell us a $14,000 plus package for 20 years to stay at their resort. Pretty much a time share but they didn’t call it that. We agreed to listen to the spiel for a spa gift certificate but man did they push us and push us in the meeting and wouldn’t let up. We had to walk away and even another guy followed us with a brochure to try and give us more of a deal if we signed up. We kept saying no. We will never sit through that again! Great resort overall!
