We've been to several resorts in Mexico, and this is one of our top two favourites. Great food and plenty of options for every meal. The grounds are immaculately groomed. The wait staff is joyful and courteous. We were in the non-updated section (4100 building) and our room felt and looked "tired." It needs some attention. The sofa nearly sinks to the floor when you sit in it! But the housekeeping staff is second to none and they go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. There are plenty of places to lounge in the sun, party spots or quiet, whatever you want. Two things I would change tomorrow, if I could: (1) they really play a lot of attention to the "members" of their vacation club, so it leaves non-members, like us, feeling like second-class guests, and (2) there's so little information ... anywhere! The El Dorado app is a joke. It doesn't work most of the time. Making reservations on the app is an exercise in frustration. The restaurants don't have signs telling you what restaurant you're at. There's no "daily bulletin" or anything to tell you what's going on the next day. They could really use an upgrade in communication with guests.

Hotel Dorado Royale was the first all-inclusive vacation me and my partner have been on together, and we will definitely be returning in the near future! Every part of our experience was incredible. From the service, to the kind and extremely helpful staff, to the great food and drinks, and the beautiful resort itself. Our expectations were exceeded during our stay. We will definitely be recommending this resort to our friends and family and spread the word on our amazing vacation.

I loved the hospitality of the workers there. Very nice hard working staff.
The food was great and the way it was presented on the plate looked amazing.
The room had everything I needed to satisfy my needs. I will say the decor could be updated.
The beaches were nice and clean. Be prepared to see the giant artificial reefs which look like giant concrete rocks but nonetheless the water was still very beautiful and peaceful.
The only thing I was not satisfied as much with was the choice of music being played. It felt like music I will play my kindergarten students minus the reggaeton which I did enjoy. There was too much country and pop not enough Spanish music or rap/r&b.
The resort itself as a whole was still very nice and well kept.

The outdoor facilities are really good and well kept, with 7+ swim up pool bars, lots of restaurants and variation on where to lie down.
Unsure how a lot of these reviewers are giving it 5*, it’s ok/good but not great. There could be improvement on the rooms, the service is pretty poor and varies throughout the hotel.
The size of the hotel is fantastic though and gives you variation.
The online app was nice to book restaurants / room service / concierge. Much better than when you used to have to call / queue up! The app could be better though in terms of the tech, but that is not the hotels fault.
There was a lot of weddings which meant big groups getting drunk in the pool most of the day - so just be aware and chose a quiet pool if this is not your vibe.

I stayed here in 2011 and it was magical. I was recently married and came here for my honeymoon. I booked directly and was shocked about how poor the food choices were for an all inclusive resort. First it’s impossible to get anything to eat from 3:45 - 6. Only a limited room service menu. No dinner buffet? It seems like they are really trying to cut costs. For a 5 star 4 diamond resort I couldn’t believe it. Impossible to get reservations at any of their restaurants without just having to complain. Everyone at the resort was complaining about this as well. Not great entertainment. They tried to pitch me some exotic traveler package for $69k. They said it gets me a discounted travel rate. When they pulled it up it was $200 more than I booked directly? The staff were amazing, just I was always starving. As always unless you ask for premium liqour they short change you. The resort was very empty. I can only think with the bad publicity booking share down so they had less food options to save money. The breakfast buffet was lacking to say the least. Always empty of food options. I’m fit and not a glutton, just on vacation I expected more. Sadly I won’t be back as it was just a ripoff. Maybe it will be better when they remodel. Another great experience ruined by cost cutting.
