Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando

I cannot exaggerate when I say that this is the least enjoyable stay I have ever had at a hotel. The service isn't the worst. Lots of very respectful, very kind, very generous people. However, that's the minority and not the majority. There was an instance where I left my hotel key in my room (my fault, I know), and I called the front desk to see if I could get some assistance with getting into my room. Matter of fact, someone ELSE called it in for me, and I STILL waited outside of my room for close to 30 minutes because I was reassured that they would reach me in "5 to 10 minutes". And even when they got there, they asked for my ID (which makes complete sense), called the front desk to verify that I was the one in the room, and THAT took another 10 minutes for some reason, so I was stranded outside of my room for close to 45 minutes. Also, if you're not paying for the wifi, don't even bother using it. The amount of times that I have been mid work project, just for the Wifi to drop and get a "You have been quarantined!" message because their auto-connect doesn't like PINTEREST is quite baffling. Thankfully, I was here with a work conference, so I didn't pay anything out of my own pockets (which is a plus), but I wouldn't waste a dime here. Overpriced, extremely inconvenient, not even remotely worth the money they're asking.

A great hotel. I would love to go back any time. I have stayed at several resorts in the Orlando theme park areas, and this resort ranks near the top. That includes multiple high end Disney and other Universal resorts. I highly recommend this resort to anyone that can afford it. The staff was great, the location is perfect for Universal, and the resort itself is top notch.

We had a wonderful stay at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. The property is beautiful and feels just like an Italian seaside village with a peaceful atmosphere. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The pools are fantastic, especially the one with the sandy beach and slide, and there are plenty of dining options with delicious food. The staff is friendly and always ready to help. The best part is the easy access to Universal with the water taxi and the Express Pass that’s included. Overall, a relaxing and convenient place to stay — we would definitely come back!

We stayed at Portofino Bay for our first trip to Universal Orlando and we loved it. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable. Of the three top signature hotels the theming here I feel is the most elegant. The pool is tied with Hard Rock for being out favorite on property. While the walk to the parks and City Walk is doable but its probably quite far for most people but the boat system was pretty frequent and very accessible.

The room was excellent and the staff were all so pleasant. If it's the cheapest of the 3 hotels that include express pass, I'd come here again. Compared to the other two top-tier hotels on property (Hard Rock and Royal), this one feels it is missing some ambience as the detailing outside falls flat though the interior is excellent and our hotel always seemed to have a boat line where others did not. It was almost faster/ comparable to walk at 1pm than to wait on a boat, which just felt odd. I agree with sentiments of others that this place feels like a maze of stairs. The layout is just a bit odd and it is difficult to find some amenities, but not too challenging. I did enjoy my stay here and the amenities provided. I found my bay view room gorgeous and comfortable! Would I stay here again though? Only if the other 2 premiere hotels are more expensive.
