Royalton Bavaro Punta Cana offers a fun and enjoyable experience, especially for families, with fabulous pools, friendly staff, and a convenient location just 30 minutes from the airport. Rooms are spacious, though some maintenance issues can persist. The buffet is quick and convenient, but food options can feel repetitive and are not very vegetarian-friendly. Service runs on “island time,” so expect delays, especially with check-in, room service, and restaurant reservations if not in the Diamond Club. Highlights include the lazy river, kiddie pool, and vibrant evening activities for kids and adults. Bring singles for tips, shop outside the resort for souvenirs, and avoid the high-pressure Prime Travelers Club presentation. Despite some service challenges, the resort is a great choice for a relaxing getaway.

Just got back from a 5 day trip and let’s just say I am glad to be home. 5 days were enough at this resort, could’ve been 3 and I’d be fine with it.
Room: not clean. We stayed in a swim out and the room was nowhere ready for anyone to stay in. Construction was going on in the rooms next door to us so the TV and Minifridge were not working and not stocked. Baby roaches crawling around. You need to use their app to request towels, cleaning, or anything related to the room.
Food: 2/5 stars. Hunters Steakhouse was probably the only good option. Everywhere else was bland. Sushi was horrible. They must use sweet rice in their rolls because everything tasted the same. Room service is a joke. Be prepared to wait 2+ hours for a burger and fries. The menu is very very small.
Beach: this was the best part. The water is incredible and the hotel kept the sand clean from seaweed.
People: very friendly staff. Bartenders are the best and definitely work for their tips but the liquor isn’t good. Make sure you request specific liquors with your drinks or else they’ll use their local liquors which is lower quality. It will make you sick.
Amenities: lazy river was awesome and pools are great.
Entertainment: there was something every night in their entertainment area. Either a show (Rock concert, Dominican dances) or game nights.
If you’re traveling with kids, this is the resort for you. This resort is super kid friendly and they must market themselves that way because kids were running around everywhere and crying babies were included in dinners. This didn’t bother us though since we had a little one. Just a heads up for the couples or Solo Travelers looking for a good time.
Overall, we won’t be back.

My husband and I stayed in the Royalton Bavaro Resort in October 2024, for four nights and five days. The Junior swim up suite was nice. My suite was very clean every day, great service. The food department, needs improvement, and restaurants were not well air conditioned. Beach was great, pools are kept clean with great pool bars. Resort is safe. My main complaint is the excessive soliciting of their Time Share like membership. 😫😤

Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3 out of 5)
Upon first arriving at the Ryalton Bavaro Resort in Punta Cana, our initial impressions were unfortunately less than favourable. We were met with an unprepared swim out unit, complete with dirty floors littered with hair. Despite raising the issue, it took three requests before it was properly addressed. However, once the issue was resolved, the room was cleaned to a satisfactory standard.
The food selection during the initial days of our stay was somewhat disappointing, offering a rather limited variety. However, it improved over time, and a greater amount of choice was eventually introduced. The resort operated three stations for breakfast and dinner, where guests could get eggs in the morning and meat or seafood in the evening. This resulted in long waiting times as the food was cooked in front of us, which was quite inconvenient. There were also already cooked food to avoid lanes.
The condition of the towels provided left much to be desired. They were old and discoloured with bleach spots, although we did receive some newer ones. Similar issues were found with the hotel room towels and bedding - seeing clean, spotless towels and bedding would have significantly improved our overall experience.
The resort itself shows signs of wear and tear, but it didn't spoil the overall enjoyment of our stay. However, the service could certainly be improved. Waitresses were slow during meal times, and our minibar was not restocked daily, forcing us to fetch water from the coffee shop ourselves.
Despite these issues, the beach was undoubtedly the highlight of our stay. The crystal clear, warm water, coupled with the beautiful blue colour was truly breathtaking. Our son particularly enjoyed the lazy river and volleyball at beach. However, we were disappointed to find the flow rider/surfing practice closed until our last day.
The evenings were made enjoyable with various shows, the first part of which was dedicated to children, followed by entertainment for all. This was a nice touch that added to the overall experience.
In conclusion, while our stay at Ryalton Bavaro Resort had its ups and downs, with certain improvements, it could certainly be a truly fantastic vacation destination.

Room: 3/5 Stars
The room itself was beautifully maintained, thanks to the amazing maid service. Every day, the room was spotless and beautifully presented, which we truly appreciated. However, the minibar was a major disappointment—it was never stocked throughout our stay. Additionally, you cannot request any items for your room without incurring extra charges, which was frustrating and felt excessive for a property of this caliber.
Food: 2/5 Stars
The food was overall disappointing. Contrary to expectations, Hunter’s Steakhouse was not good—it fell short in quality and flavor. However, the Italian restaurant was amazing, offering delicious dishes that stood out as the best dining experience of the trip. Breakfast was chaotic and frustrating; you could hardly even get water to your table without having to get up and get it yourself. For a Marriott property, this was unacceptable.
Beach: 4/5 Stars
The beach was the highlight of the trip. The water was beautiful, and the hotel staff worked hard to keep the sand clean and free from seaweed. This was one of the few redeeming qualities of the property.
People: 2.5/5 Stars
The bar service took forever to get a drink at some points we would just walk away as no point in waiting., the liquor selection was disappointing. If don’t specifically request premium brands, the hotel defaults to local liquors, which are of much lower quality and can make you feel unwell.
Spa: 5.5/5 Stars
The spa was absolutely the best part of the trip. I received a massage focused on relieving tingling in the hands and feet, and it was the most amazing massage I’ve ever had. The therapist was incredible—her skill and attention to detail made the experience truly unforgettable. I cannot recommend the spa enough!
Amenities: 4/5 Stars
The lazy river and pools were fantastic. These were among the few enjoyable parts of the trip and provided much-needed relaxation.
Entertainment: 3.5/5 Stars
The nightly entertainment was decent, with shows like rock concerts and Dominican dance performances, as well as game nights. While it wasn’t extraordinary, it was a nice touch to have activities in the evenings.
Overall Impression: 3/5 Stars
As a Titanium Elite Marriott member, I was shocked that this property met Marriott’s standards. While the room was beautifully cleaned by the maid and the spa was exceptional, the issues with the minibar, food quality, and breakfast service fell far below what I expect from a Marriott property. While the beach and pools were enjoyable, the overall experience was mixed, and I wouldn’t recommend this property to others. Marriott should re-evaluate its rating of this resort.
