We had a recently renovated room that far exceeded our expectations. Their shuttle service ran on going making it convienent to get around. Lots of variety at buffet with rotation and a la cartes were a great addition. The Greek in particular was high end and Japenese was entertaining. Friendly service throughout though if you spoke Spanish it went further. Went with TripCentral and recommend them.

Thali Restaurant- fantastic evening! Great ambiance! Food tasty & good selection of food. Servers are so nice & kind. Made the evening very good. Someone in our group celebrated a birthday & they made a real fuss & made it very good fun & enjoyable. Very attentive. Totally recommend.

We had the best time ever at the Grand Bahia Principe Aquamarine in Punta Cana! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome everyone was so kind, generous, and incredibly accommodating. A huge shoutout to Miguel at the front desk, who was truly the best and always made sure everything was perfect for us. The entertainment team was honestly unbeatable and completely made our trip. Gabriel, Yafranny, Oblenny, Isaac, Walter, Jose, Ray, Richard, Freily, Felix (trained me at the gym!!!) Juan (the best bar tender ever!!!) and of course DJ Martin were absolutely incredible and knew exactly how to bring the energy and fun every single day. They made our vacation 100 times more memorable, and we will definitely be coming back just for them. An unforgettable experience from start to finish!

It's what you'd expect from an all-inclusive that has to mamage thousands of people for 3 meals a day, plus lots of alcohol. Not the place if you want and peace or quiet. Loud music wherever you go (party atmosphere), people who "claim" prime beach and pool chairs early in the morning, then only use them for a couple hours, low-quality food options for the most part. That being said, one can always put together a very nice salad, cold cuts and cheeses on good bread, good fresh fruit, smoothies. But the trays of prepared foods were generally not particularly good. In a week stay, you get 3 'special' meals at one of the many specialty restaurants. Reserve early, and take advantage. Good wines and beer will cost you extra no matter where you eat. The house wines are awful.... One nice feature is that you get a wrist band for each person in your group and that band is what they check for meals, and is a fob for getting wirelessly and keylessly into your room. I guess you get what you pay for - this is one of the lower-cost DR resorts. Drive from the airport is 45 minutes or so. Kudos to the folks who work there. We found them friendly and helpful despite having to deal with a few pushy, slobby and rude tourists who sometimes behave at the buffet as though they've never seen food before, and bully their way past lines to get onto shuttles or to a bartender first. Most of the clientele, though, were friendly. Lots of different languages spoken, so people come from all over the world. Also good for families with kids, and there is a nightly show at 9pm that cycles through a weekly schedule: dancers, magic, circus, etc... The spa (extra $$) was quite nice, and there's mini golf, a kids water park, soccer pitch, ping pong, and a little "village" of shops aimed at tourists.

I really would like to give a good review to this hotel, because I have stayed in several Bahia properties in the past, and was always pleased with their properties. We stayed at the Grand Punta Cana during the Christmas week. Here are the pluses I can say: - the property is close to the beach. The beach is beautiful, with fine sand and very little seaweeds unlike Cancun. The waves are boisterous and the water is warm enough to enjoy. - the grounds of the hotel is lush and well-tended. The common areas - lobbies, dining, are spacious and lovely. - the food is great. There is a wide variety of dishes in the buffet and specialty restaurants and we really enjoyed the seafood. - there are numerous pools throughout the property. There is always entertainment spread out throughout the Bahia hotels that are right next to each other. Here is what I was dissatisfied with, that made me give them a low score: - The staff are mostly apathetic. A handful of them are friendly, like Jose at the Reception and Clara at Guest Services, but most of them dont even smile and only a few can speak or understand English - Training seems to be lacking in their staff. Our room attendant, for example, is friendly but thats because we were generous with tips. We arrived to our unit with an empty shampoo bottle (thank goodness I always pack these things), no soap in the sink. - The rooms are dated, but they are spacious unlike modern hotels. The AC was working well along with the ceiling fan. The faucet in the sink is faulty, the temperature controls in the shower is faulty (it gets way too hot even in the maximum cold settIng), the lights in the room were faulty and we had to call an electrician to fix it. The TV, which we had no plans of using, was not working. - There is general apathy among their service staff. When we arrived for dinner on day 1, the tables took a very long time to be cleared and when someone finally did clear, the girl just shook the placemat crumbs to the floor! The floor was slippery and needed mopping. We asked for soft drinks or hot sauce and the attendant would say yes and would disappear and would not come back to update us if they dont have it. On our last day, we called the number to hail a trolley to help us with our bags and ferry us to the lobby, it just kept ringing. When someone finally answered, they just transferred the call and it just dropped. We tried multiple times and no one was answering. Finally, we had to bring down the luggages by ourselves and flagged random trollies down at the road side to take us to the lobby. - on Christmas Eve, there was no announcement the dining room would close early for lunch at 2pm so they can prepare for the big xmas eve dinner. They just posted a poster at the entrance of these dining rooms, which was easy to miss. That would have been bad enough, but they kept letting diners in to the buffet til 1:45 and started removing the buffet food sharply at 2pm! This, despite the fact there are still people queueing up for food and people still eating on tables. Then, Christmas Eve dinner was just served at the lobby buffet..which is too small for the number of guests they had, so they assigned seat times to everyone. We got a 9:30pm seating assignment, only to find out that no one was even checking at the entrance if you are really following your seat times! - Towels at the beach area is not enough for the number of guests. They always ran out of towels. The beach cabanas/umbrellas are not enough for everyone, and unless you are a very early riser and you hit the beach early, you wont get a lounger or cabana by the beach. - drinks are all watered down and blah For the amount of money guests spend at this kind of vacation, Bahia Principe Punta Cana should really step up their game. Its really not worth spending big bucks over this dated property with bad service. This makes me think this will be my first and last visit to Dominican. We’ll keep doing Jamaica and Cancun where the people are genuinely friendly and makes it a worthwhile stay.
