DO NOT Drive Here!
The room itself was fine, the check-in staff were decent, and the buffet and staff there were actually quite good, but whatever you do, DO NOT drive to this hotel. Especially if you have a long or wide car. Take a cab, use a ride-share service—anything but your own car. The parking situation is beyond atrocious. I had to circle the multi-level parking lot 4-5 times due to a total lack of signage. The security staff even directed me to the wrong area, forcing me to exit and re-enter the lot multiple times.
Entire sections were reserved without clear signs indicating this, and the driveways are so tight that maneuvering is a nightmare. To make matters worse, the floor arrows that should lead you to an exit, or more parking spaces, send you into dead ends—they haven’t been updated in who knows how long. In fact, after retracing my steps, I noticed that one floor of the parking lot did have updated arrows, but the others did not, indicating that management is aware of the issue but hasn’t committed to resolving it entirely.
To top it off, there are these bizarre parking ramps with no instructions, no operators nearby, and they can’t be manually moved. I ended up scratching my car in their narrow, confusing mess of a parking structure against the ramp while trying to maneuver into a parking spot. I have no idea who designed this parking lot, but they deserve to have their qualifications revoked.
What’s even more frustrating is that the parking isn’t even connected to the hotel. If you need to access your car or grab something from it, you have to exit the hotel, walk to a separate building (where you WILL get wet if it's raining), and take an elevator to the basement. Out of four elevators, only two were running—again, showing the lack of maintenance and proper management of this parking lot. When I tried to complain to the parking management team, I was met with attitude. Zero accountability. I was asked to fill out a form with no assurance that it would be escalated and no meeting with the manager in person. Instead, he called me on the phone and wanted me to meet with the security guard who had directed me to the wrong location, rather than dealing with the issue internally. I obviously rejected this silly non-solution.
I wanted to like this place, and if it weren’t for the awful parking experience, I would have rated them higher. But since neither the hotel nor the parking management seemed to care about resolving this, I can’t recommend driving here at all. It was honestly frustrating to book a hotel rated as 5-stars online, only to be met with 3-star treatment as soon as I arrived.

Hotel Maya is still a 5-star hotel. Though its rooms and ambience is a little dated compared to the hotels in its vicinity, it still is able to offer respectably good facilities and warm hospitability.
Buffet breakfast spread is more impressive than expected. We were pleasantly surprised to see blue cheese as part of the spread. And the Maya Brasserie staff are very well trained and do a better job than some other 5-star well known hotels.

Very bad
1. Our bathroom had a sliding door without a lock/bolt, even in the pictures one can see that someone can still peep through the door inside the washroom.
The sliding door then had another issue, at midnight it broke, then the staff member repairing it was taking way too long even when it was repaired he was making a video of it (for evidence that he fixed it). He took a total of 20 minutes, not while repairing but making a damn video. We were tired that night but this guy ruined our sleep.
2. This cheeky hotel made the room look big in the photos whereas in reality the size was lower than our expectations.
3. The wall between the washroom and the main room had a see-through translucent glass (as shown in the image below). One could see everything inside.
4. We requested the receptionist to change our room but he showed us only one room which was worse than what we paid for, all other rooms were booked which was a cheap lie.
5. If you are a vegetarian, then you will find nothing here except for breads, non vegetarian food was very smelly.
6. The staff was very casual and did not pay attention to a dissatisfied customer like me but on the other hand they were advising me sarcastically what to do in my room with all these problems.
7.There are no stairs in this hotel, only a lift which will be problematic of there is a fire.
8.On our second day the fire alarm tripped for no reason in the middle of the night (video below), everyone in the hotel panicked, we went to the fire emergency exit but it was locked. Now everyone was stuck in their respective floors, only if their were stairs. We couldn't sleep again for another night.
Having stayed there i would suggest you choose another place to stay.

I stayed at this hotel from 12 - 14 November for a workshop, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing.
There was a bedbug in my room, and I was bitten multiple times, which disrupted my sleep and caused considerable discomfort.
The hotel lift was also very slow, resulting in significant delays as I often had to wait a long time for it to arrive.
Additionally, the microphone in the Meranti meeting room frequently malfunctioned, producing popping sounds that disrupted our discussions whenever we used it.
Due to the bedbug incident, I plan to report this to our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Procurement departments to assess the safety and hygiene standards of this hotel, as I am concerned that other staff members could face similar issues in the future.

Old and dying for revamp/renovation.
Not worth even though it’s below RM400 per night. I’ve stayed here before, long time ago. Back in 2006/7 it was rated as the top boutique hotel with 4/5 star rating. We thought of coming back here because we had our best experience here and we always thought that Hotel Maya was one of the best hotel in KL.
This time round, we had a worst experience with this hotel. When we check in, there is no hospitality at all. The guy at the front desk don’t seems to welcome us. No greeting, no smile, don’t even bother to look at us. When you sit down at the check in counter, the PC monitor was obstructing and you don’t see the reception officer, or rather he was hiding behind the monitor, in which I don’t know what to do, the guy who check us in, didn’t bother to talk to me, most of the time, he is hiding behind the monitor. He just do his stuff, give me the room key, and just want me to walk away…not even telling me how to get to the lift. Being rude and no hospitality, I think he should not be in this hotel industry.
Room is bad. Everything looks old. There is no power point by the bed. The sofa is dirty and there is stain all over. Yucks!!! Tiles on the toilet was stained as well. The air conditioner is noisy. There is nothing in the fridge(this can’t be 4 star rating!) the towel smells of some body odour. The shower is also bad. The shower head is spoiled and it’s like those water spray for cleaning floor.
It need to be renovated if Hotel Maya wants to keep its 4/5 star rating.
Unfortunately I have booked 6 nights here from 25th Sept 2024 until 1st Oct 2024 and all paid for. Otherwise I would have cancelled this and move to somewhere else. Plenty of better hotel around KL. If it’s not because we want to re-experience our memory of this hotel, I will never come back.
