Where do I start? I rarely leave reviews but this place deserves one. To start… Staff is wonderful. Much of everything else was pretty awful. This place is under construction and should not be open yet. Half of everything isn’t even open and caution tape all over. When we arrived there were buckets everywhere, water running out from the ceilings, windows, everywhere. Staff was cleaning up water at every turn. Literally water everywhere. There was visible mold throughout the resort & spa. When we left right outside of our door they were cutting open the ceilings to remove the visible mold that was coming through that was not there two days before. It was everywhere! Everyone in our group was complaining of being stuffed up and itching eyes. One person in our group demanded to switch to another room after entering his room yellow water was coming up through the tiles throughout the room. Showering was interesting, no matter the temperature every minute or so the water would go to scolding hot. The smells throughout the resort range from musty to chemical. This resort is falling apart faster than they can build it. During check-in there doesn’t seem to be a consistent deposit either. Our entire group had the same rooms yet we were charges $500 deposit, our friends ranges from $200-600. Made zero sense. While visiting the spa we had pretty decent massages but they tell you nothing and show you nothing. You are not allowed to use any of the facilities unless specifically you are doing Hydrotherapy. So no sauna or steam room, they will literally yell at you and pull you out. Would be great information to know prior to services or even during. The point of going to a spa is to use the facilities and at the price they charge for a 80 minute massage I would expect it would be included. It’s not. This place could have been great but there is no going back with what’s happening there.

First of all, this is a gigantic building so get ready to walk and there’s tons of potential here but it’s still not buttoned up! Rooms are nicely appointed, beds are comfortable, and all the views are amazing. The bathroom lighting is very dark. We had an ironing board and a steamer but no iron. Bathroom came with nice incidentals like toothpaste and a toothbrush. Robes are fabulous. Service- the busiest day of our conference was the only day that the pool service really suffered. Someone would take our food or drink order never to be seen again. At the south pool (which was quieter), we had very attentive service. Bars- the drinks were meh. We were told they were out of vodka at multiple bars and I really believe the Vodka we did receive was watered down. Long wait times when you have a big group. Pools: Guests preferred the north pool and ironically, no one was using the lagoon. Lots of chairs- that wasn’t an issue like at other resorts. But they could use towel receptacles so we could drop our wet towels or return them when leaving. There’s no where convenient to put them so everyone just leaves them on their chairs. Beach: this is like an unfinished Mexican beach. Large bushes. Only a few chairs. People walked the beach but I wouldn’t elect to hang out down there. Restaurants: some people in our large conference had a hard time getting reservations. We arrived a day earlier and managed to get reservations. The hibachi restaurants were the best of our trip. The morning buffet was packed one day and it really was a free for all. We ordered room service breakfast for the next day and it was good. Our order arrived on time since we selected an early time but our friends order showed up late and without the coffee carafe since their time was later. Building: this is where the resort needs to keep working. There were buckets in the main hallways collecting water so there’s obviously a membrane issue since you could see water damage in multiple places. The building is lacking signage (getting off an elevator at the right floor is a crap shoot since there’s no clear signage) and the bathrooms by the ballrooms look beautiful but they aren’t finished when in the stalls (visible shims and missing trim pieces). Spa: the water treatment experience was good! I can say I did a cold plunge (it’s optional). Our massage service was outstanding. But we booked a second treatment for a later day and when we arrived, they did not have our reservation. They called out the receptionist who said you booked it for Monday when we both know we and she said Tuesday multiple times. She said I called you 7 times ( but apparently she called our room and never left a message) and I wasn’t sitting in my room. So make sure you get the paper confirmation. I asked them to remove the charges since we know we were clear in our request for Tuesday afternoon but she must have entered it in the wrong day. Not the end of the world but they placed the blame on us which we did not appreciate it. Is it 5 star luxury? No. Will it ever be? Probably not. But it’s a solid choice for an all inclusive. Bring some $ for tipping cash. No place to add tips to your room like other resorts.

The staff was the best part of this hotel, the pool was nice not fully open the bouncer playground was closed they said they didn’t have waiver's that’s why, looked like it would have been fun. They need to add maps to show locations of food places and shops. There are a lot of leaks, cones everywhere they need a full time moping staff. Seen a lady blow up right at the entrance yelling saying they ripped her off for a ride seemed that the staff was not trained to handle it or get it under control, maybe they just didn’t care they let it go on for about 10 min and there was a lot of people in the main lobby. The room was nice no real issues other than the shower water had to take a non direct rout to the drain. The food was good service was excellent. A lot of construction going on and what they think is done is not just walking around and not really looking the repair punch list would be a long list. Maybe in two or three years it will be a five star resort. Would I come back most likely not could use the money I saved staying somewhere else on excursion.

One of the best all inclusive experience we've ever had. A lot of complaining Iin the reviews, but if you're willing to show a little grace as they open 100% this is a fantastic hotel. The food was top knotch, especially the steak restaurant and Asian fusion. Top shelf tequila and plenty of bars/options. The rooms were comfortable and the view fantastic. Clean pools, affordable cabanas... Very convenient to the airport. Didn't need or want to leave the resort...

I had an amazing stay at AVA Resort Cancun! The service and staff were exceptional—everyone went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The highlight of our stay was definitely the long saltwater pool. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind, with plenty of space to swim or just lounge by the water. Although not all the restaurants were open yet, we still had enough options to try something new every day. We’re already looking forward to our next trip to try the ones we couldn’t fit into this stay. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend AVA Resort for anyone looking for a top-notch getaway in Cancun!
