Positives - nice location and nice views from the room.
Negatives- Everything else. The lobby is a construction zone, you have to go to a 4th floor conference room for the temporary front desk. The room was no better. It looks to have been recently remodeled but was very basic and plain. The toliet flush knob was falling out of the toilet and you had to hold it back in to flush the toilet. The air vent in the shower was filthy with years worth of dust. The room was very hot, I set the AC to 65 and it ran nonstop and never cooled the room lower than 74 degrees. So I was sweating all night. The TV guide menu with the frizzy TV static background looks like something out of a 90's motel not a 4 star hotel. Definitely not worth the nightly cost other than the fact that it's in a good location with nice views.

I recently stayed at the Millennium Downtown Hotel on a business trip, and I had an extremely disappointing experience. Despite the fact that I have never smoked in my life, I was unfairly charged a $500 smoke fee plus tax. The hotel claims that a detector picked up smoke in my room, yet there was absolutely no evidence of this. Even the maid confirmed that she did not smell anything unusual, yet the management refused to remove the charge.
To make matters worse, I just saw another review from only three days ago describing the exact same issue. It seems their smoke detectors are highly inaccurate, and they are unfairly fining guests without proper verification.
This situation is not just frustrating but also completely unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. Since this was a business trip, I must submit my expenses, and having an unjust smoke fee on my report could wrongly affect my professional reputation. It is outrageous to be accused of something I did not do, and even worse that the hotel refuses to acknowledge the error.
I expected far better from Millennium Downtown, but instead, I was met with disrespect and unjustified charges. If you stay here, beware of false smoke fee accusations—this seems to be a recurring issue!

Clean Hotel & Great Location!
We were welcomed to a clean, spacious room. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom is spacious with a large mirror and vanity area. There is a shower and bath. We received free small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion which were topped up everyday alongside hand soap.
The towels supplied were clean and were also changed daily.
There is a thermostat in the room which you can control so our room was the perfect temperature.
The staff at the hotel were friendly and welcoming and always ready to help.
We were on floor 10 and had a great view of The Oculus.
The subway station is literally outside of the front of the hotel, which is perfect. There are lots of shops, food options and things to see around the hotel!

At our arrival the rooms were not ready.
We booked a suite and they gave us a double bed for the first night becouse the suite was not free.
They left us waiting at the reception after a 10h trip.
Lifts are incredible slow.
Room are old and not that clean.
Loud and noisy due to the renovation is going on.
The only good point is the position.
We are often in NYC for business, for sure we will not come back here.

A MAJOR RED FLAG – Beware of Unjustified Charges
I stayed at the Millennium Downtown New York for an entire week. While the room was in excellent condition, the location is unbeatable if you need to be in the Financial District, and comfort was not an issue, my experience was completely overshadowed by an unacceptable and unjustified charge that should concern any potential guest.
Upon check-out, I was shocked to find a $500 USD smoking fee added to my bill. I do not smoke, I do not vape, I do not use candles, nor anything remotely related. Yet, the hotel insists I did, providing nothing more than a printed graph claiming that at 7:42 AM, their monitor reached “100”—as if that alone is irrefutable evidence.
This is unfair, excessive, and outright disrespectful. My word as a paying guest is dismissed entirely in favor of a questionable sensor reading. To make matters worse, I spoke directly with the housekeeper who cleaned my room all week, and they confirmed there was no sign of smoking whatsoever—even advising me to speak with management again because this was clearly an error.
I strongly urge future guests to think twice before booking until the hotel resolves this issue with their smoking monitors. Otherwise, be prepared to give the hotel an extra $500 for no reason.
A property of this caliber and reputation should not need to boost revenue through baseless charges—especially when their only “proof” is a sensor reading on a piece of paper, contradicting the physical inspection of a human being who actually serviced the room.
Unacceptable.
