Royalton Resorts Cancun is an all-inclusive resort. This generally includes breakfast, lunch and dinner, which will be served in a variety of their restaurants. During meals soft drinks, beer, water and wine are usually offered. Locally produced alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks like water, wine, soft drinks, beer and spirits are usually served throughout the day (except during meal times).

Nissa Milfort
The room wasn’t the cleanest, and had a terrible sewer smell. The hotel is beautiful but that smell in our room was awful. Dining is an issue here. You have to reserve dinner in advance and they full up quickly. All restaurants are closed from 11am-12:30pm which wasn’t clearly communicated so we had to wait a while to eat lunch the first day. We missed breakfast because we decided to sleep in. There are a lot of fun activities happening on the resort which was a plus. They also have a great gym and spa on site as well. It wasn’t a horrible experience but I don’t think I’ll be back.

We recently stayed here for a destination wedding with friends and family. Overall, we enjoyed our time there and would recommend it to others. The location was a standout feature—situated away from the bustling hotel zone in Cancun, it offered a more relaxed atmosphere with less traffic. The resort itself is massive, with plenty of pools and varied areas to unwind, so you can experience a new spot each day. The food was also impressive, better than other all-inclusive resorts we’ve stayed at, adding to the overall quality of the experience.
However, there were a few downsides. One server at one of the restaurants was quite pushy about serving alcohol, even after our group politely declined multiple times, which felt disrespectful. Additionally, while the resort advertises ten restaurants, only around six were open at a time, with some exclusive to certain tiers, which is typical of all-inclusives but still limiting. Making restaurant reservations through the mobile app was also frustrating due to glitches. Finally, the check-in process was slow—despite a short line, it took nearly an hour to get through.
The resort is divided into three tiers: Standard, Diamond Club, and Hideaway, with the latter two offering additional perks at a higher cost. It caters to all age groups, so expect a diverse mix of guests. Despite the issues, we would gladly stay here again and recommend it, especially for those looking for a spacious, relaxing getaway just outside Cancun.

I had a truly disappointing experience at Royalton Riviera Cancun. First of all, the hotel is not located in Cancun, but rather near Moon Palace, far from the iconic Cancun beaches. This was a big letdown right upon arrival.
As for the food, it was very poor. They force you to download an app to book reservations at the restaurants, but the app requires you to book three days in advance, which is incredibly inconvenient. As a result, we ended up eating at the buffet most nights, and even that was subpar. The staff at the restaurants were not friendly and seemed to serve with an attitude, making the experience even worse.
I tried to grab something to eat at the sports bar, but the place smelled bad, and I had to wait 30 minutes just to have my order taken. In the end, I left without ever receiving my food.
I was at the hotel for an event, so I had no choice but to stay there, but that didn't improve the overall experience. None of the restaurants provided food worth the price of staying at this supposed luxury resort. I was shocked by the poor quality given the hotel's claimed high-end status.
The rooms were also run-down. The sheets and pillows were low quality, which is not what you'd expect from a place that advertises itself as a top-tier resort. To make matters worse, when I tried to check out a day early because I live nearby and wanted to sleep in my own home, they wouldn't let me. When I came back the next day, I couldn't check out at the proper time due to the event schedule, and when I finally did two hours late, they charged me a late fee. They refused to give me access only for the event, which would have made much more sense.
The spa was the only somewhat redeeming feature, although even there I was followed around by a staff member like I was being watched, which made me uncomfortable. On top of that, half of the water circuit wasn't functioning, yet the prices were still outrageously high.
Overall, this hotel does not live up to its price or reputation. The staff seem more focused on charging you for everything than providing a quality experience. I absolutely would not recommend this place. It was a terrible experience from start to finish.

Just got back. Resort was beautiful. Lots of activities. Food was good. Our room was on the 1st floor & had a balcony with jacuzzi, but right below it was like a flooded sidewalk. It was disgusting and swampy. Bacteria floating and tiny fish swimming. It smell awful. I tried to suck it up and not complain, but after the first night I woke up gagging from the smell. The front desk was very accommodating, no questions asked and moved our room thankfully. Photos attached.
The stinky, swampy, almost sewer like smell, was also in the buffet area. As soon as you walked in you were hit with that smell and it was nauseating. Not sure what the issue is, but it needs to be resolved. No one wants to spend money to go on vacation and have to smell that the whole time.
My other issue was the sales pushiness from every single employee, from the photographers to the excursion bookers to the spa workers. One even got angry at my husband for booking our massages through a different employee than him. It got to be really irritating.
Other than the smells & the pushy salespeople, we really enjoyed our time.

My experience at the Royalton Riviera Resort was very disappointing. First, this resort is not located in Cancun and the beach water edge is filled with seaweed and dirt. The food is low-quality… we cook better food at home. It takes 30 minutes- 1 hour at some of the food places to be served. Also, there are signs that state we can swim after 7 pm at your own risk but they kicked everyone out which is unfair since the pools make up most of the activities on the resort…
DISCRIMINATION!!!! (Please read)
My family and I went to the water slide area and we had a TERRIBLE experience. At first, we were stopped when we tried to get on the two-person slide and said we were over the weight limit (mind you they didn't know how to convert Kg to lbs so we did it for them) but we weren't. They never brought a scale to weigh us or anything…. So we attempted to get on another slide and this time they allowed my two other family members to go down a specific slide and they were over 500lbs together…. Me and another family member attempted to go up the stairs next and we were stopped and prejudged on our weight because of our looks but we weighed under 400lbs together. They didn't have a logical reason for not allowing us to go. It took getting the highest level of authority to allow us to get on the slide but by that point (A hour and a half) we were over it and ready to go. I was told they would compensate me for this experience and I have yet to receive anything. My flight was the next morning so I was told I would get some sort of monetary compensation and I have yet to have this issue resolved.
