Buffet food was 97% inedible and tasteless. Rooms were dirty, stained sheets, with dirt layer to it. Hallways smelled of garbage and the stairwell was the worst. 0/5 stars
Had our room broken into while at the spa and an expensive ring from a long dead relative stolen. Reported it within 30 minutes of arrival after checking to see if it was misplaced in the room. (Entire room was searched sheet by sheet and all luggage was checked). They scanned the door to see if it had been opened in that time by someone else and was notified no body had entered by the door was wide open when we returned (which it was not like that when we left). No cameras in any of the halls to check. -100/5 stars
Alcohol is watered down unless you tip the bartenders (which you should still everyone here and it is expected). Almost all restaurants are reservations a day before available on the app only. With the only decent food being at the Italian and the Japanese restaurant. 2.5/5 stars
Very loud if close by the main pool and 18+ events definitely had children present. 1/5 stars
The entitled nature of people who walked behind and stood behind a beach wedding gawking were incredibly rude and nothing was done to prevent that or the construction from happening during the vows. -1000/5 stars
Multiple outages of food items, cups, and the power even went out to our building in the middle of a shower. 1/5 stars
Cleaning service was otherwise nice and as helpful as they could be. Coffee people were superb and the wedding photographers and other photographers were wonderful as well. 5/5 stars
Spa service was well done though the deep tissue was more of a regular massage. 4.5/5 stars
Beautiful view at the beach and well maintained with iguanas, mockingbirds, great kiskadee bird found throughout the beach front. Sunrise is peaceful and the sand with the big clean view is gorgeous. 5/5 stars
You must have the app for the hotel as well as your transportation so expect to download those before hand. 2/5 stars (I hate having an app for everything sorry)

My family just returned home from a magnificent stay at the Royalton Riviera! We have 2 young kids and with all the family friendly amenities, we couldn't have been happier with this resort.
We would strongly recommend this resort, and moreover splurging if you can on staying in the diamond club. We found it was well worth the additional cost and the service was second to none. Our butlers, Gina and Eduardo went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, and also went above and beyond making us feel incredibly pampered.
We were very impressed by the restaurants and food overall. They had a wide selection of different types of cuisine all of which were delicious. Our favorite was the Texmex restaurant. The buffet also had a nice assortment for breakfast and lunch!
The kids' club was a welcomed activity for our little ones, and we were impressed by the facilitators and variety of events planned.
Out of the beach, the pools, splash pad, and kids' club, we can confidently say, for families with kids under 5 this is the place to be!
Check-in and check-out were virtually seamless, completed in mere minutes at the diamond club desk. Alexandro assisted us with our check-out and was incredibly helpful!
There are a fair number of very negative reviews on here, however do not be influenced by those. A fabulous vacation is right around the corner at the Royalton. Our family is excited to visit again soon!
Thanks to all the staff who made this trip so memorable!

Definitely cannot call this a “luxury resort.” Diamond Club means nothing - rooms were old, dilapidated and not well maintained. Mini fridge and snacks not refilled. Mouldy and dirty bathrooms. No extra bedding. Walls were visibly covered in grime and who knows what else. Took hours to get checked in and 45 minutes to get checked out. Butler Service was a joke - 2 butlers (Gina & Eduardo) assigned to our rooms but neither spoke to each other resulting in miscommunication or no communication - nothing in between. All requests took hours to get a response, if any was received at all. Any reservations made by the butlers were screwed up. There was never an apology. Even the manager made promises to fix things or find solutions and he didn’t come through either (Alex). “Resort Credits” are a scam. Champagne provided by the hotel was so old/cheap that it wasn’t even carbonated/ didn’t pop when opened. No food or snacks provided by hotel during New Years events and all stores/snack shops were closed. They ran out of towels at the pool every morning. We travel frequently throughout the year - this was by far the worst “luxury” resort experience we’ve ever had.

I had the pleasure of photographing a fantastic Sikh / Pakistani wedding at the Royalton Riviera Cancun, a few years back and I can confidently say this hotel is exceptional. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure you’re taken care of at every turn, and the entire resort is kept in pristine condition.
The pool areas are spacious with plenty of sun loungers.
For food, the variety of restaurants is impressive. The seafood is always fresh. It was incredible and had something to suit every taste.
The lobby bar quickly became my favorite spot—it’s elegant, air-conditioned,The entertainment was enjoyable, but I felt it ended a little early most nights, often by 10:30 PM. The White Party on Fridays was fantastic, but it wrapped up just as the atmosphere was at its peak!
The hotel shop was quite pricey for snacks, but room service was reliable for getting crisps, sweets, and nuts.
The beach is stunning, and while there’s some seaweed, it’s cleared away each morning. I found the spa quite expensive for what it offered—access to the indoor pool, sauna, and steam room should be part of the all-inclusive package. The cocktails throughout the resort were fantastic, just remember to specify if you want alcohol in them
Thank you, Royalton, for an amazing experience!

My company had a retreat at the Royalton Cancun and we will not go back. Communication was lacking on behalf of the banquet team. I liked the all inclusive concept for a group of 50 people. The lobby looks nice. However it took 30-40 minutes per person to check in. The rooms are nice but need updating and repairs. The beach was nice but they had construction and we had to hear hammers for hours. While a few of the restaurants were good, The worst part of the hotel was the food at the buffet and Agave restaurant. Agave was hands down the worst restaurant experience of my entire life. I am 59 and I have been to restaurants all over the world…. This one was beyond horrible. The service was horrible. It took 3 hours to get our food delivered (6 people at our table). Once delivered, the food was awful. Nobody at our table could force a second bite. None of it was edible. The drinks were watered down as well…. The entire experience downright SUCKED. The restaurant was so hot and the air was stale we could barely breathe. No AC and no air flow. The other patrons cheered as I took control to open the doors and prop them with chairs giving us all air to breathe. The waiters stood watching and did nothing to help. Out of the 50 people we had at the hotel, 12 got sick from the food. We all felt the drinks were watered down. The hotel is a long distance from other restaurant options. We paid for all inclusive but we wanted to bail on the Royalton and get food elsewhere. However, the town was a $80 transportation fee each way. Choose another hotel and save yourself from frustration, disgusting food, and rooms that need repairs.
