Check in through the Diamond Club was fast. The staff are generally friendly however, I would not recommend this resort to anyone. The first night the resort did not have running water or A/C for about an hour. The menus at every restaurant are limited, the drinks are extremely watered down (this was a huge disappointment) bring your own alcohol if you can. Our first butler, Nick was okay. Our second Butler Brian was absolutely horrible. Room service is a joke. Housekeeping staff were nice and efficient, but the room needed some work done/upgrades. our lock was broken, the lamp didn't work, and the sliding doors to the bathroom were about to come off of the hinges. Some of the food at the resort is good. I enjoyed the patties at Calypso and the jerk chicken peas and rice were good. The buffet wasn't bad. Overall the food was just okay, I've had better food in Jamaica. Some of the staff members act like they don't want to be there. The beach is great, the spa is great (ask for Roma if you want a massage).

I recently stayed at the Royalton Hideaway
Negril and had a mixed experience. Upon arrival, the check-in process was a mess, and the customer service from the front desk team was disappointing. However, guest service agent Jarvis & Ruth truly made our stay great. They both went above and beyond to exceed our expectations.
The restaurant and food were good, and Chamar and Zodian were awesome. Even though we didn't get a chance to make a reservation due to the late check-in process, they were still able to accommodate us. The buffet food for dinner was fantastic. The houseman/room attendant was also very helpful in getting amenities to our room.
Despite the rocky start to our day, we tried our best to enjoy ourselves. The night entertainment was a blast! However, I believe the front desk staff needs proper training to improve customer service. The Royalton has great rooms, but we did experience some issues with the internet and the TV. Overall, it was a decent stay, but there’s definitely room for improvement.

I was really worried that we had made a mistake booking here after reading some of the reviews.
Well I am so glad we did!
We only arrived yesterday evening but so far so good. The reception area is lovely. Clean and attractive decor. The staff were warm and welcoming and we were offered the resort rum punch while checking in. Room is excellent and the bed is so comfy.
Ate at the buffet restaurant for dinner as need to book all the other restaurants and need to sign in to the app to do that. A bit of an issue with the app meant we haven't been able to book any as it says nothing available for the duration of our stay which was a worry but guest services booked for us. Sometimes the app doesn't work well apparently. Our first full day has plenty of sunbeds, no need to worry or put your towels on early.
Staff serve you drinks at your sunbed and even had pizza and kebabs bought round to us!
Hoping it continues!.
UPDATE...
Just returned home and the fabulous experience continued. We have had the best time. Everyone's experience is personal to them and ours couldn't be further from the negative ones.

If you have already booked a trip to this resort and are now reading reviews, my advice would be to make the best of it and focus on enjoying your time. I do not typically write reviews; however, I felt compelled to share my experience in this instance. My boyfriend and I recently spent six days at this resort, marking my sixth trip to Jamaica and my second visit to this particular property. It was his first trip to Jamaica! My first stay was in 2018 when it was Royalton White Sands Family Resort. Unfortunately, I must say that the resort has changed significantly since then.
On a positive note, our check-in process was smooth, and we were fortunate to receive an early check-in. The room itself was satisfactory; while we are not particular about size, the air conditioning functioned well, and the space was comfortable. However, the shower was frustrating, as it alternated unpredictably between scalding hot and freezing cold.
The resort grounds remain visually stunning, and there were several highlights that stood out during our stay. We enjoyed the infinity pool, the jerk hut, and, most notably, the café and gelato shop, which became the highlight of our trip. The food and beverages there were exceptional. Unfortunately, the beaches were littered with garbage and seaweed. The lazy river was out of order, which was disappointing.
The entertainment at the resort was mediocre. While the entertainment staff were friendly and engaging, the overall programming lacked energy and variety. Having experienced the vibrant and dynamic entertainment at the RIU last year, the difference was disappointing. There is significant room for improvement in this area, particularly in terms of daily engagement and evening performances, which were underwhelming.
A major area of concern was the quality of customer service. The buffet was disorganized, with long wait times, slow table turnover, and inconsistent service from staff. On several occasions, guests waited unnecessarily for seating due to delayed table clearance. At one point we witnessed a member of the entertainment team assisting with table clearing... Getting the attention of waitstaff was also challenging, further detracting from the dining experience. That said, the Italian restaurant was a notable exception, offering excellent food and attentive service. Tristan at Zen was also great!!
In summary, while there were some enjoyable moments, the overall experience fell short of expectations, particularly given the cost of the trip. This was my boyfriend and I’s first vacation together, and I had hoped he would experience the same exceptional level of service and enjoyment I have encountered on previous visits to Jamaica. We still made the best of it and still had a good time!! Unfortunately, the resort did not deliver the quality I had anticipated based on past experiences.

Hideaway Royalton Blue Waters fell short of the luxury experience that’s advertised.
False advertising
Rooms:
The rooms were a major letdown. They’re small, with attempts at modernization, but they don’t meet luxury standards. Our initial room was poorly maintained, with cleanliness issues and an outdated feel. After requesting a move, the new room was in even worse condition—complete with a broken bathroom fan, visible mold, and neglected upkeep. The rooms simply did not reflect the quality one would expect from a “luxury” resort.
Service:
The staff, unfortunately, were often unhelpful and dismissive. We even offered to pay for an upgrade, but were told there were no rooms available. Strangely, it seems that if you opt into their premium membership for future stays, then upgraded rooms somehow become available. This left us feeling misled and dissatisfied.
Premium Room Issues:
This wasn’t just our experience. Other guests in the premium rooms shared similar complaints, including leaks and other maintenance issues. Some were so frustrated by the lack of attention from the staff that they left the resort altogether.
Resort Grounds and Amenities:
The resort grounds were lovely and well-kept. The family-side rooms at Royalton Blue Waters seemed to receive better feedback, but the adult-only Hideaway rooms need serious improvement. This side of the hotel should be shutdown.
Dining & Standout Staff:
One positive aspect of our stay was the food, which was excellent throughout. A few staff members were also fantastic and deserve special mention: Lanacha at Royalton Fit was incredible, Samantha and Amari at the front desk were helpful, and Ajay at Zenith restaurant provided wonderful service.
Final Verdict:
The advertising here is misleading—this is not a true luxury resort. Given the high cost, we were disappointed and won’t be returning. For those seeking a genuine luxury experience, I would suggest considering other options.
