Check in through the Diamond Club was fast. The staff are generally friendly however, I would not recommend this resort to anyone. The first night the resort did not have running water or A/C for about an hour. The menus at every restaurant are limited, the drinks are extremely watered down (this was a huge disappointment) bring your own alcohol if you can. Our first butler, Nick was okay. Our second Butler Brian was absolutely horrible. Room service is a joke. Housekeeping staff were nice and efficient, but the room needed some work done/upgrades. our lock was broken, the lamp didn't work, and the sliding doors to the bathroom were about to come off of the hinges. Some of the food at the resort is good. I enjoyed the patties at Calypso and the jerk chicken peas and rice were good. The buffet wasn't bad. Overall the food was just okay, I've had better food in Jamaica. Some of the staff members act like they don't want to be there. The beach is great, the spa is great (ask for Roma if you want a massage).

I was really worried that we had made a mistake booking here after reading some of the reviews. Well I am so glad we did! We only arrived yesterday evening but so far so good. The reception area is lovely. Clean and attractive decor. The staff were warm and welcoming and we were offered the resort rum punch while checking in. Room is excellent and the bed is so comfy. Ate at the buffet restaurant for dinner as need to book all the other restaurants and need to sign in to the app to do that. A bit of an issue with the app meant we haven't been able to book any as it says nothing available for the duration of our stay which was a worry but guest services booked for us. Sometimes the app doesn't work well apparently. Our first full day has plenty of sunbeds, no need to worry or put your towels on early. Staff serve you drinks at your sunbed and even had pizza and kebabs bought round to us! Hoping it continues!. UPDATE... Just returned home and the fabulous experience continued. We have had the best time. Everyone's experience is personal to them and ours couldn't be further from the negative ones.

It's supposed to be an all-inclusive resort, but it felt more exclusive than inclusive. Their website says "unlimited reservation free dining," but the only restaurant that is reservation free is the buffet and cafe. All of their other restaurants require a reservation and you can only sign up during specific hours. Also, the hostess of the Italian restaurant told us that our reservation would cancel right after our designated time slot. So, even though the rest of the resort is on "island time," if you're a minute late then the reservation is cancelled. On the app it said we had 15 minutes, but not according to the hostess. Additionally, you couldn't reserve certain hours of some of the restaurants unless you paid extra to be a "diamond" member. But diamond members didn't have the same access we had as "elite" members. Everything just seems segregated for something that is supposed to make people feel included on everything. Overall, we went for a wedding, and it was a beautiful wedding. The bride and groom stayed on the family side of the resort which was oddly more fun than the adult side. Unless you're going to be wasted the whole time, the family side is more entertaining. However, the bride and groom wanted to walk over to the adult side (because most of the wedding party had booked with the adults only side) and staff had told them that they weren't allowed to. The crazy part is that they were paying thousands of dollars for this wedding and even paid extra to be diamond status, but because they had black wristbands instead of gold ones, they were told that they couldn't swim on our side. We were also told that we couldn't temporarily remove the wristbands for wedding photos, because they cost so much to replace if you lose them. ($120 per wristband.) My mother-in-law attempted to make reservations for water sports too. She was told at booking that these would be included; however, when she arrived and attempted to make the reservation, the staff told her that this was unavailable due to the hotel being "between vendors." My family also attempted to sign up for snorkeling, but then when we came back with everyone ready (maybe an hour later) we were told that we could no longer snorkel because the waves were now too choppy. (Which could be true, they can't control the ocean, it just kept happening that we wanted to reserve something and then it fell through.) In the end, we're happy that we went because we got to be present for the wedding. But we won't be going back there.

I am overall unsatisfied with the service I have received. I paid $131,000 for 2 nights in a slow season, only to get a view of the parking lot and the facility mantainence buildings. What is being advertised on there website and the package deal that was said I would get didn't come even close to what we receive. My first encounter, the check in process, the receptionist were all over the place, going back and forth from back office to front. It took me an hour to check in and there were only 1 other person checking in at the time. Dissatisfied with my room is one. The tea tray only had 1 tea and 1 coffee, no bed slippers, the plugs by the bed doesn't work. The room had an odor like old bathroom smell and sweat. NOTE: THIS SUPPOSED TO BE A 5 STAR RESORT! The bar doesn't have garnish or even fruit juice to make basic cocktail. No orange juice? no pineapple juice? No Wray and Nephew rum (The Jamaican Rum?) The food could be better. Making a simple pancake wasn't done properly and a got one undercooked.

So, this by far was the WORST experience I have ever had at a hotel. Our check in was 5 hours. We originally booked a presidential suite. Upon arrival, they let us know that they would be downgrading us because the room wasn’t available. First they said it wasn’t available because it was broken. Then they said someone else had booked it. Then they said they were completely booked out of every room which was not true. They also weren’t going to compensate us the difference for being downgraded. And on top of that, we requested a room with two beds and the downgrade would only have one. We even offered to book two separate standard rooms for the same price and they said no. After 5 hours, they magically found a presidential. Now let me tell you, when we got into this presidential, it looked like someone had just left. There were open drinking cans on the counter, no fresh linens. When I called and asked for someone to clean while we grabbed food, we came back to them just sitting two sets of towels down and that was it. Disgusting! The rest of the trip wasn’t any better. Much of the staff we encountered had attitudes (the room service guy, the front desk people and definitely the managers!!!). Stephanie was great and our butlers were amazing and made the trip worth it. We made the best of the time but I hated it. I will never go back and it honestly turned me off to wanting to travel to Jamaica in general. Marriott, y’all have been slacking. Everywhere I’ve been this year with Marriott has been a let down. I’m deeply disappointed by this experience. More happened, but it’s too much to type. I recommend staying elsewhere if you are traveling to Jamaica.
