Sandals South Coast is a one-of-a-kind experience, beginning with the interesting shuttle service through the Jamaican countryside. Our room was ground-floor and we chose an all-inclusive five-nights package. Our patio opened into connecting pools that featured a swim-up bar with fabulous beverages. The staff are helpful and outwardly friendly. Any minor inconveniences are quickly and truthfully remedied. The numerous specialty restaurants serve excellent food. The souvenir shopping is a must. The only possible downside for some visitors might be the size of the property. It was a lot of walking to see everything.
Some fun trivia: First, the food trucks have no engines so they aren't going anywhere. Second, those "Don't Feed The Peacocks" signs are laughable because the peacocks raid the scraps from food trays left outside the room doors.

The trip was great but not the best we’ve been on. The staff were very nice and attentive. It has a good layout and the resort shop was very affordable.
If we weren’t there for a wedding we probably would’ve went elsewhere;
When we booked our trip we got a beach front walkout room. A couple months after they told us they were reconstructing some of the buildings and our room was turning into a swim up. Instead of honoring us with another walkout, they put us in a room with a view of the pool blocking most of the beach view. When we asked if we could just be moved into an other walkout they said that it would cost more than we already booked. I feel like we should have had some accommodation instead of being placed into completely different room.
Most restaurants had hour wait times and the restaurants that required reservations weren’t possible because the next availability was after we left. I’ve never had this experience with past all-inclusive resorts.
The shuttle drive from the airport to hotel took 4 hours. They told us an hour and half not telling us the more realistic time. Traffic through the city is very backed up between 2-6, this was not a random occurrence.
We took a group snorkeling trip through the resort and because we had more than 4 they charged us $100 per person. They took us to a choppy part of the water, which made it hard get close to the reef without getting scratched up. They didn’t not have enough food for our group and not enough of mouth pieces for everyone. Not worth the money.

We spent 6 days at Sandals South Coast for our honeymoon/one year wedding anniversary.
The good
1- the room was updated and clean. We stayed in one of the Long Beach swim up suites. Loved the oversized shower and the soaking tub on the patio. The room was well stocked with beer, soda and spirits. The swim up pool was typically clean.
2- the food was AMAZING. We didn’t get a chance to make it to every restaurant but chicken dippers was a great lunchtime option (seriously the best chicken tenders I have EVER tasted) and the sushi restaurant has the best Philly roll ever. Bayside had a pretty good breakfast spread.
3- the resort is just beautiful. Very clean and well maintained. We spent our mornings under one of the many cabanas on the beach and would hop over to either the main pool or our swim up area in the afternoons. The beach was very clean and the water was usually clear- on hot days it was so nice to just float around in the ocean (resort staff were great about checking up on us and bringing us drinks).
4- the staff was amazing! Everyone we met was warm and welcoming. Clayton was the best bartender (latitudes over the water bar).
5- I’m a crazy cat lady so I appreciated the many cats wandering around the resort. They are all well loved and in great health which says a lot about the resort.
6- we did 2 excursions (Rick’s cafe and the Appleton rum estate). They were both awesome experiences but I have to say our drivers really made the experience for us! Christopher gave us a whole damn historical overview of the island and even stopped to get us sugar cane to try. Jamaican mamma and papa got us to Appleton and kept us laughing the whole time.
7- I didn’t wake up hungover a single day I was there. The bartending staff does a great job balancing the alcohol in their drinks.
The not so Good
1- the bed was downright rock solid. Very uncomfortable. We were usually so tired by the time we made it back to the room that it didn’t phase us much but I would have expected a bit more from a luxury all inclusive resort.
2- If you’re the type of person that prefers instructions to be written out for you, you’ll have a hard time here. Things like dining attire and check out were not clear. Take advantage of the help chat and sandals lounge.
3- be prepared for people to try and sell you things. Photography sessions, spa days, excursions… etc. People would walk up to us while we were trying to relax pool side or at the beach. I will say the staff is perceptive to when you just want to be left alone, but be prepared to be approached.
4- The drive from the airport to the resort was… treacherous. Lots of sudden stops, potholes and traffic. It goes faster depending on the time of day but if you don’t have a good driver and are prone to motion sickness you’re in for an experience. Be sure to pack Dramamine.
All in all, we had a wonderful experience at sandals south coast! It was well worth the price tag and we would absolutely consider going back in the future. There were some downsides but the benefits far outweighed them. It was a beautiful well maintained resort full of warm and welcoming people. If you are looking for a party non stop vibe this is not the resort for you. It’s a bit more low key and relaxed but that’s exactly what we were looking for.

This is an amazing place! It's beautiful and the staff is amazing. I have never gone anywhere where the staff is as nice as these. They can't do enough for you! We were here 14 years ago for our honeymoon and is definitely a winner!

Beautiful resort.
Newly renovated rooms with romantic tub on the balcony.
The staff is so friendly and engaging and very accommodating.
Resort a bit far from the airport but you get to see the countryside and local environs.
