We've been to this resort multiple times, but were very disappointed with this trip. It is an older and quiet resort with a beautiful view. They had very few daily activities and they were only held at one of the pools. The pool towels were gone by 10:30 am and were not refilled. We enjoyed the Japanese restaurant but the rest of them were barely average. The staff that we encountered were wonderful. There just weren't enough of them. The pool we were at only had a server 3 of our 7 days. We will not go back.

We just got back and here is my take, 1st of all, the staff was amazing. Zero complaints, but the rooms and food and EXTREMELY LOUD music for a couple of hours around noon every day was not. Our first room was so outdated and they had taken the bathroom door off the hinges and it was gone. I know it's supposed to be a private adults only resort, but there's nothing sexy about hearing your husband take a dump 🤣 They moved us to an updated room, still no bathroom door, just a glass one around the toilet that didn't actually close, no shower door or curtain. The floor is supposed to be slightly slanted so the water rolls towards the drain but it wasn't so water went everywhere. The bed was the worst part. That mattress has to have been there since the place opened. The dip in one side was so deep they put towels in it under the mattress topper to fill it in. We asked about getting it flipped or getting a new mattress but got no help. The black out curtains wouldn't close and weren't even attached on the ends. Most of the food was terrible. They had a huge NYE event but even though it was an all inclusive resort they were charging 250 and UP per couple to go eat buffet food and watch the show. After realizing only a couple of dozen people were buying tickets they set the only 3 restaurants on the resort that were open to only seat at 630 or 830, trying to force people to buy tickets. After several people got irate they finally just started letting people in the show for free. We gave up and ordered room service. Took it an hour to get there and it was cold and disgusting. Overall very disappointed with my stay and would not recommend this secrets to anyone. We have been to other secrets and loved it.

This was actually me and my wife's first trip out of the United States, really expected a lot better from reviews. We did not have the preferred club. Was not told about most of the restaurants on site are only preferred club so really did not have much food options to pick from aside from leaving the resort. Also phones were not working so was unable to get room service. Numerous complaints were made to staff. Issues were never addressed until the night before we checked out. Really expected to have some authentic Mexican food. Absolutely none on site. Two of the hotel staff actually recommended leaving the resort to get said food. Spent a full day off resort and had a way better experience. Also seems that if you are not in the preferred club, the staff will just ignore any requests made. For sure planning a trip back to Mexico but will not ever stay at this resort again. Also, any pictures that are on their website are nowhere near what it looks like in real life.

Hands down the best trip we have ever been on. The island is beautiful, the hotel is incredible, and the locals were some of the nicest people you'll meet. We weren't sure what to expect but Secrets Aura has figured it out. No wrist bands or constant checking/verifying. Everything was included, from the room service to the alcohol. Sunset view every night. Multiple resorts that you can visit since they're under the same umbrella corp. Whether you're on the beach or walking around the hotel, there's always somebody willing to help. I would suggest bringing a nice stack of $1 bills so you can tip a few bucks here and there throughout the trip. It's not required, but the staff deserves every penny. We're already planning our next trip. Can't wait to go back!

We booked this hotel instead of Dreams because of the poor reviews but that was a big mistake, when we saw our suite, preferred, junior suite, ocean view, we were horrified at the thought of staying here for a week, we immediately went back to the lounge and asked to switch suites, the only suite available (they said) was an Oceanview, beautifully newly decorated suite, wrap around balcony which cost me an additional $1800.00 US. I came to learn from almost everyone we spoke that they did the same, but their prices were much less to switch. They give you the crappy rooms so you want to move and then they charge you an arm and a leg! This resort is non smoking and they make you sign a waiver and if caught smoking, they charge you an additional $3000.00, no smoking on the beach either! They have a smoking section that is filthy never cleaned and they turn off the lights at night whenever they want. This is no more than a 2 star, the service is non existent, you pay for preferred but the only preferred about the price is you can visit all hotels and restaurants, big deal, the food was adequate. The pizza at the Pizzeria is a tortilla with toppings on it! We spent over $10.000 to have the worst vacation, everyone we met their was lovely and that made our vacation, not the resort, no entertainment, everything closes down at 10:30. In the morning, you must wait for daylight to leave your room because all the lights are turned off at the resort to save energy, you cannot see anything until daybreak, this is seriously scary! This hotel does not care about it's guests, once they have your money, you are on your own. They try to sell their timeshare to everyone, want you to pay extra for dinners, they wanted $250.00 per person for New Years on the beach! If you want a nice place to stay, do not go to Secrets Aura, Sunscape nor Dreams, choose something else, somewhere where they treat their guests like people, provide great customer service. You will not enjoy this resort, it offers nothing!
