Fantastic Beach Getaway?.. This Secrets Maroma Riviera beach hotel was everything we hoped for! The service was excellent, the staff incredibly friendly, and the food was delicious with great variety. There is a bit of seaweed on the beach and in the water, which is common in the Mexican Caribbean, but the hotel staff does an amazing job cleaning it every day to keep the beach beautiful and enjoyable. The location is unbeatable, right on the beach with stunning views and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere, the rooms are clean and comfortable with the private pool walk-in, and the whole experience was truly worth the price. However, we felt pressured during a membership presentation that was supposed to last 90 minutes but ended up taking over 3 hours (which took valuable time away from our vacation). In our opinion, the membership offers limited value due to ongoing fees and restrictions. We prefer the freedom to find our own luxury deals, as we did this time—often with better value and no long-term commitment. Overall, a great experience—just be cautious with the membership pitch. - Highly recommend this hotel! 🌴🌊
City Highlights
I have very mixed emotions about secrets Maroma. I would be inclined to give it three stars because the rooms were nice and the staff was unbelievably friendly and extremely helpful. It was clean. That being said, our ocean view room was far from what is ethically considered an ocean view, The food was barely palatable, and the single reason I had to deduct the star was entirely based on the number of fake reviews. My girlfriend and I did not have a bad time, but we certainly would have chosen somewhere else if the reviews had been honest. When you pay hundreds of dollars per night for all inclusive, you don’t expect to be this lacking in quality of the food. That being said, I can’t reiterate enough, how helpful the staff was, and everyone was very friendly. Between this and cleanliness, these are top-tier concerns when staying at hotels and secrets nailed them both.

Excellent resort! We went with a group and we all stayed in the preferred area and the service was 10/10. The staff was friendly, observant and went above and beyond. Grounds were immaculately kept. Rooms beautiful and clean. You can tell they take pride in the resort. There was some construction going on, but they did a great job of not letting it disturb the overall flow/feel of the resort. Would happily return!

I cannot put in words the quality of service and attention to details by the service. The food options are abundant. The restaurant requires slacks for men at night. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The pools are excellent. The atmosphere in the restaurants are very inviting and the money spent for the all inclusive is worth every dollar.

Would not recommend. Overpaid for a Governors suit swim out ocean front—all we see are the backs of beach cabanas. We’re preferred but on the opposite side of the resort from the preferred beach/lounge/restaurant so have to hike to the other side to enjoy the amenities we paid for. False advertising for the suit- definitely not worth the extra $2500 upgrade. Service had been sub par at best. Have to repeat requests for water & butter every time. Can’t get a banana at breakfast or chocolate ice cream anywhere. Things that have been staples at the other Secrets resorts. Cocktails everywhere and coffee drinks at Coco Cafe have been hit or miss. Not sure how you mess up a mango margarita or Bloody Mary to the point it’s undrinkable, but they figured out a way. We’re also used to larger cups with lids and straws at Coco Cafe so you can carry the drinks back to your room. Something we’ve enjoyed at the other Secrets resorts. The cups here are like small paper shot glasses with no lid. Not conducive to carrying it down the huge staircase right outside the cafe and back to your room. Couldn’t enjoy our swim out almost a whole day because they were doing construction on a unit above and all we could hear were drills, clanging & scraping. Took several of us complaining before it stopped after 3pm. Our concierge went on vacation and let us know, but his fill-in never reached out and we stopped getting the daily text with updates on events/activities. We stopped by and spoke with her and she took our number again—still no communication. Seems like every time we’re in the room we get a door bell ring. Often while still sleeping in the morning or napping in the afternoon. There should be a ‘do not disturb hanger’ —if there is, no one informed us. Heard and read so many good things about this resort but have been severely disappointed. Three things have been great—the food at the restaurants, evening shows, and the room/mattress. Otherwise, I can’t tell you how many times we’ve whispered to each other, “I hate this place!”
