Fantastic experience at this UWS hotel. In an older building so expected a few “quirks” in exchange for charm and non-chain experience. There were zero quirks! The staff are wonderful, lobby is beautiful & manned by helpful doormen. Room was fabulous - we had a corner suite so views to the N and E. BONUS: Michelin 4 star restaurant downstairs so dinner & in-room dining were splendid. Everything was just like the photos on their website. Highly recommend and will be back!

A truly great historic hotel! It’s away from a lot of the crazy Times Square tourist traps, so if you’re visiting friends or just trying to explore NYC differently, this might be the place for you. The rooms were definitely on the older side as you’d expect, but they were CLEAN — with capital letters. My only slight let down was an ice machine.. without a water dispenser. A pretty standard amenity missing from a place that charges a lot of money during peak season. Other than that, it was a great stay.

Usually people are motivated to share reviews when exceptionally bad or exceptionally good. This is for the latter! I was pleasantly surprised by our almost full two week stay at the Lucerne. Yes, the hotel rooms have a dated style, but not what I would consider”worn out”, for me comfort and cleanliness are number one priority. Room are clean and the staff are exceptional, from front desk to the cleaners - there seems to be a very good culture and management at this hotel. I have stayed in many hotels around the world, and the staff here are among the best.

I have to say that given all the positive reviews and the very high price, I was quite disappointed. I’ll start with the positives: room was clean and cleaned every day, wifi worked well, baggage storage past check-in allowed. The negatives: the rooms are relatively small, they have no mini-fridge, and sheets/bedding is minimal; the service was not great - I asked for a blanket and had to call again after waiting for it for an hour, there was always a line to talk to the reception staff (in the evening, there was only one receptionist). I had asked for a quiet room but still heard my neighbour talk on the phone in the hallway around midnight. Overall I think the building is too old to be really comfortable and the hotel rooms are priced too highly for what they can offer.

This was a great hotel for myself, husband and son. We stayed several days and the staff were warm, friendly and very service-oriented. The location is hard to beat with ready access to the subway, great local restaurants, delis, Duane Reed (Walgreens) and exceptional coffee. Do highly recommend!
