Arriving at the hotel after midnight, having called early evening to reconfirm our rooms and inform the hotel of our late arrival due to a delayed flight, we were kept waiting for over an hour due to 'an issue'. The issue turned out to be that our rooms were not available. The night manager was extremely rude, did not apologize and told me i should be grateful that he was willing to help me out with two king rooms for 7 people. I had to book a room at another property at three times the nightly rate to sleep two of our party, and deal with very upset and tired children. Eventually around 2am we were able to access the two king rooms for 5 people. They were unrenovated rooms (we had booked renovated rooms) with aircon not functioning, and it made for a very uncomfortable night. The next morning a very apologetic staff member assisted us in getting access to the rooms we had booked but we had to vacate the room for 4 hours until the rooms were available. With little compensation offered this was an extremely stressful, expensive and negative experience. I had read the reviews and understood the hotel was under renovation and the stay may not be smooth but I never expected to arrive to deal with that. Once in the rooms we had booked they were fine and I would have had no complaints. Multiple families were checking in at the same time as us and were experiencing the same issue. So be warned if you are arriving very late!

This is this is absolutely the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at in New York…. And then on top of that, the front desk Agents gaslight you welllll they attempt to.They think that having a country accent equates to being illiterate … pure BS First of all, I booked a standard King room and although they are going through renovations, it is still preposterous and needs to be shut down temporarily Room number one remember, I booked a King room I walk in and there’s a very small bed in the room smaller than a queen. Room number two is wheelchair accessible, OK I’m fine whatever at least the room is bigger. I have a bigger bed … I Drop my bags and I go and meet up with some fans. I come back turn the sink on and it’s leaking. Room three I put my key in. I smell the aroma of bathroom. I see feet and another person look at me in my eyes. I go back down to the front desk..... The receptionist asked me where did you go in the room?…. I asked her "so you want me to risk my safety to walk in the room that’s already occupied?" She proceeded to say "well I’m just asking did you go in there?" Like what are we doing here? Can I get a room that’s fully functioning without people please I paid over $600. Now I’m in room number four that smells like feces and I have given up because I have a huge business endeavor in the morning and I’ve been up since 4 AM. It is now 11:30 PM and I am completely over it. UPDATE on room 4 !!! I found black mold in the room and the water and air would not cut off ... it was making me sick. I left a day early. The manager Liyah said she would refund me both days. NOW some one by the name of Gene is refusing. I have now opened up a case with the health department, and I will file fraud on the charges as false advertising and inhumane. Do not stay here if I can give this hotel a negative star it would be a -100000

It’s 2025. The hotel is called The Manhattan, and yes, it’s actually in Manhattan. You’d think that would mean a hint of modern comfort. But apparently, even Wi-Fi here is a rare artifact. The rooms seem to have been designed for guests who bring one device — or perhaps none — but infinite patience. At the moment, I’m charging my laptop while balancing it on the edge of the bed because there’s nowhere else to plug it in. There’s not a single accessible outlet near the desk, the bed, or the TV. Two lonely sockets exist — both at floor level, one conveniently beside the air conditioner. Perfect spot to charge your phone, if you don’t mind leaving it on the floor next to the window. I wouldn’t want to pay for this place. Location doesn’t make up for a lack of basic functionality. Comfort matters — and this feels more like a museum than a hotel. Oh, and the Wi-Fi? It keeps disappearing. Maybe it’s obstructed by invisible “beems,” or maybe it’s just the hotel’s clever trick to keep guests too busy reconnecting to notice everything else that doesn’t work. Don’t fall for the photos. This is a real mess!

I honestly don’t even know where to start: this hotel was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. Like many other reviews have said, it looks absolutely nothing like the photos. The place is old, smelly, and depressing. If you’ve ever seen the movie 1408, you’ll know exactly what I mean. Our first room was dirty and run down. I could live with the fact it was old, but the moment something gross came up through the bathtub (most likely from the room next door), that was it. We went to the front desk, and they moved us to a smaller room. But instead of being better, it was even worse: the AC was so loud we couldn’t sleep, one of the drawers was completely missing, the only one left was broken, and the bathtub didn’t drain properly. We complained again, and they admitted that many guests had the same issues. They told us it would take time to send someone to check the AC, and that maybe they could change our room the following morning. After a long flight, we were too exhausted to keep pushing, so we just dealt with it. But honestly, I’m sure they had other available rooms. The front desk staff were okay, nothing great, but the concierge was on another level of disappointing. When we checked out, we left our bags with them and asked if there was any charge. They said no, just tips. I get how tipping works. we’ve tipped everywhere on this trip but if you give good service, people want to tip you. You don’t need to beg for it. We even told the guy (Alex) that we didn’t have cash at the time, but we’d leave a tip with the front desk later for him. He seemed fine with that. But when we came back to collect our bags, the staff literally said behind our backs, “Alex said they were going to give us tips.” I was standing right there and heard it. That moment sealed it for me — I decided not to tip any of them. If you’re going to treat guests like that, consider it the bare minimum of your job. Honestly, I should’ve been asking for a refund instead. They’re apparently renovating to become a Crowne Plaza, but if they keep the same staff and attitude, don’t bother. Just stay far away from this place. If there was a zero star, that would be my genuine rating.

If this review is helpful, please make sure you leave it a like. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 Okay, guys. There are a couple of things that need to be said about the Manhattan in Times Square New York. Let us start with the good stuff and move to the bad stuff. The best thing about this hotel is absolutely the location. It is very easy to get to a lot of things from this hotel walkable, as well as jumping on the subway. The staff was incredibly hospitable and friendly for the most part. The hotel staff cleaned very well. Now, let's talk about the bad stuff. The hotel has seen better days. It obviously is in need of remodeling, which they seem to be starting because the lobby itself is blocked off for remodeling. But it would seem like you would remodel the rooms first because they really need a lot of help. There were very few outlets to use, and one of the few outlets that was in my room was actually unusable because it was broken. The room that I received was quite small but I didn't mind that as much as the inconvenience of the outlets and the old furniture. The bed was probably the only good thing about the furniture because it did sleep well. Also, I forgot to mention that there was good, hot water pressure. There was actually a cigarette hole burnt into my curtains, which definitely were not blackout.Curtains, something you need in Times Square. When I checked into the room, I went to go iron some clothes and the iron was missing. I called downstairs, and they questioned if the iron was still there, I told them no, and I wanted an iron. They brought it up to me. One of the light bulbs was blown out, so I had to call downstairs to have them fix that, too. When I call downstairs to get a duvet, it literally took them two hours to bring it up. All in all, with this experience, unless it is absolutely necessary. I will probably try to choose something that is closer to this hotel and not stay at this hotel.
